I'm thinking that it's possible a wheel barrow caused the indentations on the gravel curved driveway.

Except for driving away with NG the night she was taken, I don't believe the perp or perps would have been doing anything on that part of the driveway because it is less private and closer to the street.

I've been in a number of guesthouses on propeties in Tucson. None of the guest houses I've been in -- all in upscale neighborhoods -- have used dead bolts but rather just have used the regular locks that aren't all that secure.

I'm wondering how secure NG's sliding doors from the back of her house. Many ranch homes in nice neighborhoods in Tucson have sliding glass doors going from the master bedroom and from the family room to the back yard.

Are these sliders on the guest house?

Investigation: This remains an active investigation. As long as leads continue to come in, investigators will continue to follow up on them. Currently, several hundred personnel are assigned to this case from various law enforcement agencies and are actively reviewing thousands of tips.

DNA: Lab analysis continues on biological evidence (DNA) found at Nancy Guthrie’s residence. To be clear - this is not new or different evidence from what was already recovered from the property. No further information will be released at this time.

Thanks for posting. Very interesting idea to consider whether the perp committed suicide and to ask the public for help in identifying anybody who has been missing for the past 3 weeks.

Two additional things I thought were ineresting in this above US Sun link:
1. The Sheriff stated that he believes NG is somewhere nearby
2. The FBI has contacted authorities in Mexico, asking them to spread the word about NG's kidnapping.

Maybe they identified a car early on (grey SUV) and they were able to track it on a route but then lost it. I wonder if there are cameras on highway onramps or frontage road and the SUV was never seen leaving?

Of course, Nancy could have been transferred to a different car etc but simplest answer is she wasn't and she's nearby. It's weird enough that somebody chose Nancy but I can't imagine them traveling there to do it.

True, but when you live in a warm, dry climate, and the sun is up early, many older people like to get up early and start their day. They are "go to bed early, get up early" people. Most seniors I know don't laze in bed, or stay up late. It's not in their make-up to be that way. They were the generation that worked hard and built the country up, and they got up early and went to bed early to do that. And that's still habit.

My experience in Tucson is that many seniors have developed the habit of going to bed early and getting up early because they like to take walks and it's hard to take walks in the heat in the summer (summer in Tucson starts long before June 21st )

I can't speak about NG and her friends' schedules but I think they may have stayed up later since she got home at 9:30 pm after dinner with AG and SIL. NG wasn't really able to take walks anymore and so the pressing need to get up early ahead of the heat may not have been an issue for NG.

Or, I was thinking a bike? I don't see parallel lines. I only see one line and in one spot I think I see tread. Wheelbarrow makes more sense but it seems too narrow?

I think the sheriff's office is the 'target' of the criminals. There was no note at the crime scene advising the family not to call the police or any attempt to make it look like NG left on her own. The house is outside of Tucson city limits, so it would be handled by the elected Pima county sheriff instead of Tucson PD. The kidnappers seem confident that they could evade the local sheriff. Separately, a ransom note always says don't call the police; but this one was sent to the media who would send it to the police, or the police would find out on the news. The ransom could have been paid by SG or the Today show, but they weren't sent any ransom demands. The only reason to contact the media is to alert law enforcement. In this case, that's the local sheriff who seems to have a PR issue. The ransom letter with the kidnapping has everyone watching and scrutinizing the Pima County Sheriff's Office. IMO MOO

It also looks like there are sliding doors that lead to a small patio on the left side of the main house. Kind of where some are stating that her bedroom would be.

A while back, someone suggested urine from toilet seat.......maybe that's why the mix? Hard to believe perp would be dumb enough to use the toilet, though.....jmo I CANNOT find a source for this, still if there IS a mixed sample, it could be urine. jmo

He could have relocated from the Flagstaff area, which I believe right now has a winter storm complete with snow, or while he was living somewhere that has a winter with snow and ice. He could have bought his 'outfit' there.

It's a common old school ski mask that became so cliche and associated with bank robberies that's its been glamorized in movies like Spring Breakers and spin off sorority Halloween costumes based on that. It's basically a movie trope for bad guy robber, while there are tons of other effective modern face coverings/masks.

I am surprised he chose an open mouth version and not a full face balaclava (UA heat gear) like the ones I use when I hunt but I guess he needed his DNA transferring bite light in his open mouth. Again it's almost like he used some awkward checklist of what's expected and executed it awkwardly (bank robber mask, rubber gloves, must have some holster..)

Anyway frustration on the case, with today Trump ripping the investigation and a NY Post hit piece exposing Nanos and his beef with the FBI.

He chose an open mouth mask imo so he could use his bite light.

Good point that if it was really a ransom, you would think that they wouldn't want the police involved at all. Easy enough of a threat because you are holding the victim and could threaten to harm them if the police are involved. If it really is the actual perp(s) that are sending the ransom notes, they are probably getting a huge high off of the publicity that they have created.
