He chose an open mouth mask imo so he could use his bite light.
"I am surprised he chose an open mouth version and not a full face balaclava....but I guess he needed his DNA transferring bite light in his open mouth." was what you were responding to ;) Yeah, I'm aware of his horrible forensic choice while approximating PPE.

🧐 I give up on this guy
Read the exclusive article the NY Post did on him today where they explain what a lot close to the dept. and experts think about his PR skills.

Unbelievable that people are calling 911 with thoughts and premonitions.

I think the sheriff's office is the 'target' of the criminals. There was no note at the crime scene advising the family not to call the police or any attempt to make it look like NG left on her own. The house is outside of Tucson city limits, so it would be handled by the elected Pima county sheriff instead of Tucson PD. The kidnappers seem confident that they could evade the local sheriff. Separately, a ransom note always says don't call the police; but this one was sent to the media who would send it to the police, or the police would find out on the news. The ransom could have been paid by SG or the Today show, but they weren't sent any ransom demands. The only reason to contact the media is to alert law enforcement. In this case, that's the local sheriff who seems to have a PR issue. The ransom letter with the kidnapping has everyone watching and scrutinizing the Pima County Sheriff's Office. IMO MOO
Interesting angle I never considered , I like it

It doesn’t surprise me, I think this has become standard with the public’s keen interest in true crime. Some people interpret by the police “asking for tips”, to mean they’re asking for the public to give them tips about what and how to investigate, as opposed to tips that could directly identify the perp.

Thank you for that image. That actually looks just like a track from a trash/recycle/greens can to me. Since the garage is on the right side, it is possible no one drove over the track from the last time something was put out. However, where would a trash/recycle/greens can be located to have made that track? Could be a yard maintenance worker that cleaned up and took greens that direction, of course, but it seems like the can would be in the garage or on the garage side. Just thinking out loud. Could be Walker or wheelchair tracks, could be something LE pushed in or out, could be a lot of things.

Well, the entire NG case has definitely not done anything to enhance the sheriff's stature.

A while back, someone suggested urine from toilet seat.......maybe that's why the mix? Hard to believe perp would be dumb enough to use the toilet, though.....jmo I CANNOT find a source for this, still if there IS a mixed sample, it could be urine. jmo
It could be anything. Skin cells IE: Touch DNA, it could be any body fluid. It could be he punched NG (how horrible that sounds) and he bleed and his blood is mixed with NG's.

I'm still shocked someone could get away with this for nearly 3 weeks and counting. The guy in the video footage does not seem particularly smart or savvy. Wild that he could evade investigators for so long.

Taps finger, taps finger, taps finger...waiting for that Investigative Genetic Genealogy to come back with a hit.
Can take months or even years in some cases. It isn't generally a quick process.

well IMO 911 is highly abused in this city (due to what I see at work a lot) so....this does not surprise me.

Exactly, skiers. But as i understand Tucson is in a desert so no cold, no snow, no ice. Makes no sense
Mt Lemmon Ski Valley is only a little over an hour away. Not enough snow this year, but it is a thing.

Also, weekend skiers could take a 4 hr run to to Arizona Snowbowl near Flagstaff

High desert gets snow, BTW, so don't be fooled by the term. I ended up in snow when I wasn't expecting it in Flagstaff. (fortunately I drive a 4wd, but I needed it)

I’m praying google unearths some more images from the other cams. I thought Nanos mentioned he was waiting to see if google was able to do this a few days ago? Some crumbs to the public would be nice to help push this case along. I know giving the public info is a catch 22, but it’s been beneficial in many prior cases!

I think media is taking a lot of things out of context and running with it and people are just frustrated and looking for someone to blame. All things considered I think he’s doing a good job and taking care of his team and community and trying to do right by Nancy and the Guthrie family. MOO

I could not find a source for what I heard on ABC either, about separating out male and female DNA from the house. I fear it may be taking license with something that Nanos said in this MSN piece-
“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect, but we don’t know that until that DNA is separated, sorted out,” Nanos said. ”

If he really said that, it is the dumbest thing I ever heard. From the beginning he said he wasn’t talking, no news conferences. Thdn he talked every other day and to local channels at first. He is a hot mess.
FROM NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE LINKED ABOVE:

Fevered, and unfounded, speculation caromed around social media, livestreams and message boards, and by Monday, Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County, Ariz., was fed up. Three weeks in, he said, armchair detectives were still flinging allegations that were not only incorrect but also cruel.

🌟The sheriff issued an exasperated statement publicly ruling out Ms. Guthrie’s children and their spouses as suspects, a move he had resisted because he wanted to avoid officially eliminating anyone until the culprit was in custody.🌟

Sheesh. People criticizing the gun shop owner for helping?

"I think it's ridiculous that a lot of these quote-unquote patriotic Americans think that it was un-American for me to assist in a kidnapping case, " Martin said. "Because if they if it was their mother or their daughter. I'm sure that they would want that gun shop owner to help."
