I've actually been very interested in it. Thought about taking the certification class, but funds do not allow it. But agreed Spanish and Native American DNA is unrepresented in the databases.

While I'm here --- I'll do a plug OPT INTO LE on GEDMATCH if you have done Ancestry DNA or 23 and Me. GEDMATCH is a LE friendly database, that LE can use for genetic genealogy.

It could also have started in Mexico. He/they came here, abducted her and went back to Mexico? Not easy to show proof of life if she isn't alive. Assuming she's on blood thinners and I think she is, even an elbow to her nose as they jostled her to take her away can cause COPIOUS bleeding that is hard to quell. A fall can theoretically cause extreme internal bleeding. No Mexican medicine can cure that. She would need a hospital. Still looking for ransom, anyway. I don't think she's in Mexico.

Those Instagram messages from SG's family to the perp make me doubt this was a cartel or drug or political kidnaping. The fact the brother and sister are absent from the last couple of videos makes me think it's not a grudge or revenge or military thing like a former pilot from the national guard who served with the brother. This is a targeted kidnaping by someone who wants the attention from SG. Stalker? Groupie type that has gone rogue? Jealous colleague or acquaintance? Best angle here is examine the motive. I do not think he was bungling. I think he was pretty damn effective. JMO MOO

I think media is taking a lot of things out of context and running with it and people are just frustrated and looking for someone to blame. All things considered I think he’s doing a good job and taking care of his team and community and trying to do right by Nancy and the Guthrie family. MOO

I wish that everyone here could read the full article linked from the NYT. It really provides a lot of context around how people like AB (who he names specifically) can complicate and hamper the search for the truth in a case like this. I'm not saying it would change everyone's mind re: how they feel about him but I come away with a lot of empathy for his situation. (I'm linking the article again just because I'm not sure I can talk about it without the link)

Fevered, and unfounded, speculation caromed around social media, livestreams and message boards, and by Monday, Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County, Ariz., was fed up. Three weeks in, he said, armchair detectives were still flinging allegations that were not only incorrect but also cruel.

The sheriff issued an exasperated statement publicly ruling out Ms. Guthrie’s children and their spouses as suspects, a move he had resisted because he wanted to avoid officially eliminating anyone until the culprit was in custody.

Seems to me that the family were well cleared already but the SO was withholding information for investigative purposes keeping the offender guessing where authorities are looking.

Not that he is clearing the family becouse AB hurt his feelings and he threw aside all evidence and just went ahead and cleared them.

I could not find a source for what I heard on ABC either, about separating out male and female DNA from the house. I fear it may be taking license with something that Nanos said in this MSN piece-
“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect, but we don’t know that until that DNA is separated, sorted out,” Nanos said. ”

What's really interesting about the male vs female DNA is that a female will have 2 X chromosomes and no Y chromosome. So if they find a Y chromosome in the DNA, they know its not NG's Only males carry a Y chromosome.
