Agree, that part is so crazy.

I’m thinking, the perp may have wanted to extort SG with the kidnapping/ ransom idea, but maybe never intended to return NG alive( too complicated, risk of DNA evidence)). He wanted to see if SG would pay without proof of life, body.

The way everyone worded their statements about that information sounded to me like someone within LE feels much like we do. That a lot of helpful information has been held back, while a lot of conflicting information has really muddled things up.

His mother may be an enabler. She knows what is going on but turns a blind eye to it. However, she may not support him financially outside of providing room and board.
As for dealing, yeah you can make good money, but if you’re using and abusing, it will eat up those profits.
Drug addled minds do not think clearly. If he had inside info from his drug addicted gf, it might have seemed a simple job. How much trouble could an 84 year old be? The possibility of making millions of bucks might seem like manna from heaven.

The more I read the more I understand how fearful one can become whether in her neighborhood or across the country like I am.
I just saw an investigator saying when there is an intended sexual assault, age does NOT matter. That threw me as I’m not far from her age. I always wondered why anyone would assault an old woman. The investigator said the one making the assault won’t care. I guess they are sociopaths or psychopaths and that’s frightening!

Sexual assaults are about violence and age doesn't matter. Don't know if that's the case here. JMO

Feel bad for the Guthries. I understand why LE dissuaded them from offering this reward initially, but how devastating to know waiting didn’t do any good or achieve anything anyway.

A million dollars is a big motivator and not worth protecting a kidnapper over, I hope someone talks.

Ok, disappointing, But I have heard of the way they can expand the sample, extrapolate.

I wonder if “ expanding” the sample, can be grounds for a defense motion to exclude?

Or, on the other hand, if the expanded sample leads to a known POI, it’s then considered a good, valid DNA lead?

Especially if the person of interest denied ever being in NG's bedroom.

I recall reading this (below). What I'm not completely clear on is whether or not she was incarcerated during the time NG was abducted.

She was not detained at the time NG was abducted but she did have an active warrant because she wasn't showing up in court.

Cece Moore explained that at this stage the DNA can't be processed at Quantico. They do not deal with Snip profiles needed to do genetic genealogy. That is ALWAYS sent away to a private company. Therefore, she believes that sending it to a reputable private lab to begin with probably saved the investigation time since Florida lab could do all three types of analysis on the DNA. Only thing FBI is capable of that others are not- is directly entering their results into CODIS. There was no match in CODIS anyways so in hindsight sending it to Quantico probably wouldn't have done anything but slow down the process.

This also suggests that this guy isn't the bumbling dolt that many folks read into that porch video. To do what he did, and to spend that much time in and around the home that night and other nights (evidently), and to not leave enough of his own DNA to even sample, suggests an expert skillset in depravity.

So if I have this right, the FBI hasn't changed their position from what they said when they released the video which was all released images were from the morning of NG's disappearance.

The PCSD is saying there's no information on the date or time of the image. Are they saying there is a date for the with-backpack images or that there's no date/time for any of the images?

Hopefully both LE groups will straighten this out with a joint statement. Apologies if this has already been answered/resolved this morning and I missed it. Very glad the Guthries were finally allowed to offer a reward for info leading to the location of their mom.

From my understanding Nanos was just saying that that did not come from him or the FBI i.e. that the images were taken on a different date.

All we know is the individual without a backpack was shared on Kash Patel's x page when he released the Nest Camera footage. He stated they were taken the night Nancy went missing.
That image was included with the video clips he shared of Lantana man.

The leaker mentioned the image without a backpack was taken the night before which could be Saturday night January 31st. PCSD believes Nancy went missing after having gotten ready for bed and may have been in bed but got out of bed for some reason and was taken in the early morning of Sunday February 1, 2026.

Sources with knowledge of the family’s thinking say the Guthries initially raised the idea of the reward on the first day of the investigation. They were advised by law enforcement to hold off as “doing so earlier might overwhelm the infrastructure set up to field leads, tens of thousands of which have been coming in organically.”

ETA : They are now offering the seven figure sum after coordinating with investigators. They are working closely with law enforcement on this.

It seems to me that the family is bypassing the Sheriff's Department and encouraging searching now. The FBI has also posted the $1 million reward on their social media, but the Sheriff/Pima County has not (that I have seen). At first I was willing to give the sheriff some leeway but now it has become apparent that he's an impediment to the case. He inserts himself and tries to set the record any time someone leaks to the media or being adamant the family was not cleared one day and then totally cleared the next... all while the FBI stays quiet.
