Agreed – he’s calm. I’d guess he has somewhat similar behaviour in his background. Not necessarily to do with Nest cameras (!) but something audacious and lawless.

I think it’s possible he acted alone. He had a gun, a rucksack of stuff, and potentially plenty of time. It was a quiet, dark area at 2 am and his victim was 84. He could have managed this alone. If, like NG, he also lives alone in a quiet area, he wouldn’t have been missed in the early hours.

This might be one (just one) of the reasons we are seeing No Trespassing signs going up on NG property today.

I stand by my earlier comment on them self deploying and acting independently of LE even creating a system for leads. Not good and disappointing. But I’m so used to seeing this happen unfortunately in missing person cases. The SAR team’s LE does request rarely give interviews. They are in and out. No fanfare. IMO



According to Brian S. Trascher with The United Cajun Navy, one certified search and rescue volunteer is in Tucson assessing needs for the search at the request of local volunteer groups.

According to Trascher, the United Cajun Navy has submitted a capabilities statement to the FBI and sheriff in Tucson, but have not been requested to help in their search.

Trascher said the Guthrie family has also not requested their assistance.

The backpack concerns me. Why would anyone just toss one out a door or window?

Back packs these days are cheap, they are not “thrown out of a door or window “. Perps steal them from parked bicycles, public benches, unlocked cars etc and rifle through them.
They are then tossed out and about, roadsides (where heavy rains wash them into culverts), trash bins, underbrush etc.

I’ve thought of every kind of scenario and theory. But if she truly was literally taken from her bed plus the perp was supposedly at the house for at least 40 minutes …what is that telling us?Disturbingly makes me think an SA and maybe with her fragile heart it caused shock and trauma and she passed. Perp panicked and decided to not leave her body. This is rare as most home invasions for either robbery or SA don’t usually result in the victim being taken but it’s not impossible.
It’s what makes the most sense to me right now because I can’t see a kidnapper hanging around the house for 40 minutes. But even if they did, a kidnapping for money wouldn’t drag on for more than 3 weeks. I don’t believe this was a kidnapping for ransom.

Putting together a couple thoughts, as I have gone back and forth but only posted one theory. Would love others opinions. I am squarely 50/50 for either right now.
1. Solo perpetrator, young man, motivated by sexual assault/control, I’ve been comparing to GSK. Sexual assault went wrong and body removed to cover the crime.
2. 2 person kidnap for ransom gone wrong. If this is the case I do think the $1M may move the needle. The longer time goes on from the announcement today the less likely this feels to me.

The searchers were on a public road. Not filming . She went ballistic. Accused them wrongly . Then drove off

You never know what goes on in peoples personal lives. Maybe she was dealing with her own demons and could not handle all the extra.

Law enforcement changing their position on offering a reward is not a positive sign for the state of the investigation.

The amount of tips has not been an issue, but the quality is obviously lacking.

The danger here is that this encourages more of the same, but obviously they believe the upside outweighs that risk.

This never had anything to do with the family’s willingness to pay. It’s strategy, plain and simple.

Did the sheriff change his mind or did Savannah ignore his advice this time ?

What are you basing your analysis on? Do you have firearm training or are you basing your comment on criminals portrayed in Movies or TV?
Just asking because I happen to feel that this is not the perp’s first rodeo and that it is definitely an appendix carry.
We can agree to disagree, not being critical of your opinion but just trying to understand your viewpoint.

This guy is scary, and if he isn't arrested, he'll keep wreaking havoc. Hopefully, he'll be identified and locked away soon.

I think it was. Then it was released after 22 hours or something then cordoned off again for a bit. Not sure where all this bungling criticism is coming from. Sheriff isnt the greatest orator but this case gets as much FBI as it is entitled to. Locals have the upper hand. It may be high profile as in media but it's no more or less important than a missing child, a missing pregnant mom or a missing politician. Life should be equally important and not sure what everyone thinks should have been the added perks here or why? No one gets perfection. Le and all of us are flawed. I'm not allowing the petty politics of Tuscon lambaste the sheriff. and alter my thinking. JMO

I don't know, if he is the person who abducted her, if he were smarter I think she'd be alive.

I realize these are a lot of "ifs" and conditions packed into my above paragraph, but IMO clearly she's deceased, with this much time with no progress, because it's a hell of a lot easier to control a dead body than it is a live person, even a partially mobility limited 84 year old; and unless he's playing Russian roulette with the ransom I don't know why he wouldn't already have felt inducement enough to return her.

Once this stops being a mystery it's going to be a sad sad sordid story.

Totally agree. When I read MassGuy's post I immediately thought about the interview from the 911 Center in Pima County several days ago where the manager talked about what they were dealing with including theories and premonitions.
