Yeah I agree sounds defensive. People just wanted to know what the reason for the visit was. Is this a jab at the Sheriff??
I take it as a jab at federal officials who lack law enforcement experience but use active crime scenes as photo ops. I don't know anything about this county attorney, but the statement tells me she priorities the integrity of the investigation over public relations.

When the sheriff answered questions at the press conferences, he was clear he manages investigations, he doesn't work the crime scene. He hasn't done photo ops at the scene of the crime, the homes or vehicles of relatives or targets of search warrants. IMO that rules out the statement being a jab at the sheriff in any way.

I don’t know how to interpret any of this other than a closure of sorts of an active investigation.

The hints have been there in msm with talks of scaling back.

talks of press needing to move on etc

I think there was even an msm article yesterday that said this case has gone cold.

The case will still be worked but on a much, much smaller scale.

I don’t believe they are close at all to an arrest

Is it just me or is this odd wording? "County Attorney Conover trusts her veteran prosecutors to execute the work and lead on the ground, allowing them to focus on substance rather than inserting herself into the scene for optics.”

BBM. JMO.
I think it's a confirmation that the County Attorney's prosecutors were at the scene. And the part about not inserting herself is a message to constituents who might wonder why the County Attorney herself wasn't part of the group. She's saying her experienced prosecutors are there, and there's no need for her to create a circus atmosphere with her appearance there. There would be a lot of headlines and speculation, possibly overblown, if the County Attorney herself showed up. Plus, her appearance could be viewed as a publicity stunt.

Makes me wonder about the people are who turning in tips. Friends? Relatives? Neighbors? Co-workers?
I strongly suspect that ex husbands, ex boyfriends and.... ex wives and ex girl friends top the list- after all, don't all ex wives and ex girl friends have creepy criminally inbred family members somewhere?

As for evidence, I suspect you are right. Most of the evidence is probably: "My ex boyfriend is always, I mean, always glued to the inter net watching Narco stuff.

Ohhh, and....yes, He also owes his half of last month's rent when he walked out." So.... my check should be for 1,000,000,600.00. Arrest him for something- and get me my check- ASAP.

I couldn't live in that area being eldery if it is unsolved. I couldn't deal with knowing that person is free.
I couldn't live in that area being elderly because of the dark night laws. I like my street lights. Perp being free would make it even worse for me.

I would love living there, just couldn't drive at night there! IMO

I think BECAUSE he is her co-host, it's appropriate for him to commenting on this!
His message sounded like they had rescued her and were bringing her home.

Since when do authorities make announcements about handing crime scenes back over to the family? Is that normal? It's not to me?
They don't, and they're not. This is coming from law enforcement sources, and not law enforcement directly.

Is there a link to watch I have no idea what you all are talking about but would love to know. Or could someone just tell me who and what was said? TIA

I don't believe they're close, but I do believe they have lots to get them there. Someone recognizing that guy, phone data panning out, surveillance video from his apparent previous trip(s), tips from the public, etc.

I think many, including myself, can get caught up in

I appreciate your knowledge and comments. I read her book in a Gerontology class in college, and when my own mother was murdered it helped me. I shared what I knew with a family friend, dealing with a family suicide, and trying to help his daughter and grandson, and they found it valuable in the immediate situation.
I also had a psychologist friend who knew Elizabeth, and he dealt with dying children at Johns Hopkins in the 1970s. I am fascinated by your post, and will look into this.
Thank you so much.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Or because the family wants to have the home cleaned and put back in order after the invasion and all the mess from the crime scene investigation?
I think you are correct. After so much time in agony, living in places that are not home, I think it'd be therapeutic for NG's children to be in the house their mother loved, where they grew up, surrounded by Nancy's things. I imagine they'll feel their mother's presence there, at least I hope so. May it bring them some measure of comfort.

I hope you are correct.

I don't think they have the perps DNA and I don't think the video has been particularly helpful at this point unless they have come upon something recently that's of much better quality.

I do think the previous trips are helpful to help jog someones memory, more chances to be seen etc.

There would also be a chance to zero in on someone based on their normal routine and someone being where they shouldn't for multiple instances if they were there previously.

I think it's going to take a big break to connect the dots and I think that's likely going to take quite a bit of time.

I think there isn’t much more to talk about as far as LE goes. We can chat about what is out there, but I don’t think anything new is going to happen-until that day when there is a break and an arrest and we all come back here and we are 30 pages from the last update and rolling.

I find it hard to disagree. Also the recent reward increase as a final shot before it gets scaled back would make sense. JMO from the various reports on the DNA I think they're basically going the genealogical route at this point and that could take a lot more time. (Or maybe me saying this means there's an arrest tomorrow lol 🙃)

I read that and thought it's not just the sheriff, this whole county has a communication problem
