At times I have thought someone may be infatuated with AG or her writings and actually attempting to somehow act out some of her published writings in their own interpretation of her art.

That's an interesting theory cherry, I haven't heard anyone bring this up. It would make sense to me if this is some kind of infatuation or obsession that it had to do with AG who lives there rather than SG. Maybe we've been a bit blinded by the fact that SG is widely known. Hopefully though LE has already looked into this angle

I think much like the Kohberger case, this perps prior surveillance might be this guys undoing.

More times to be seen equals more video evidence etc.

It's a monumental task sorting through it all determining whats likely relevant and what is not, but I think they likely will be able to solve this case by working through all that video.

When you show up and commit a crime like this you have to be lucky to not get caught.

But when you make multiple trips no matter how incognito you think you are being you have to be extremely lucky and it will likely catch up with you eventually.

It might not be today or tomorrow or even months from now but I think there's likely enough for this case to be solved at some point.

I think the problem is you have different view points from the people working this investigation.

Some information is coming from the Local Sheriffs office via a source to the media.

Other information is coming from FBI via a source to the media.

Each agency sees things thru a different lens IMO and the reporting has reflected that.

We also have to consider that many of the folks who summarily dismiss the ransom demand as a hoax or red herring are presupposing that the ransom demand was given the same day it was first reported on. For all we know, the demand was sent the same night/early morning and not received and/or reported on until a day or so later.

What we do know is the fake ransom demand that came in was excised from the case almost immediately and an arrest was made. We also know that the FBI does take the initial and follow up ransom demands seriously enough (and unquestionably due to their contents) that they choreographed at least the first three family response videos. They also haven't left and appear to be currently leading the charge (with the last warrants and raids being under their command), so by default that only gives us a couple of options on motive to consider here.

Catching the fake ransom demand so quickly implies the FBI can identify that original demand and match it. I like your supposition of the original ransom note timing as this would be before public awareness.

I agree with everything you wrote and I've thought about how quickly the hoax was identified. It's already winding its way through the courts. Doesn't follow then they should be incapable of doing the same with other hoaxes.

I do believe this was a kidnapping with an intent to collect ransom but I get lost on how that all broke down. From my perspective, it seems like they did not try to really collect and the other side never seemed to try to pay. Clearly, there's stuff I don't know but I'm hung up on the ransom.

All signs point kidnapping/ransom but then it seems an abandoned plan.

Whatever works for her.

I hope she does come back. She has children and cannot stay forever in Arizona.

And while she likely feels like she’d be abandoning her mom if she leaves, IMO she’s done all she can do at this point.

If there is a break in the case she can go back right away. I presume some NBC bigwigs have corporate jets and can bring her immediately back to Arizona if need be.


Obviously we still have hope, a teeny flicker of hope, that NG will emerge alive.

It seems pretty impossible by now, though, with NG lacking her meds and everything else we’ve seen over these weeks.

This does not look like an SUV per se, in my opinion. It doesn’t look tall enough. But if the plan was to target Nancy, knowing her age and possibly that she had mobility issues, they might have thought about their choice of car. Most octogenarians I know have difficulty hoisting themselves up into cars with higher floors. My elderly friends can usually do it, but it takes them a while and certainly some effort. I know because I give a number of them rides.

To me this looks like some kind of hatch-back. [ADDED: does look like it could be a Kia Soul — Soul looks low like video car.] Before the video was kindly slowed down for us, I thought Tesla, but now in slow film I don’t think so. JMO.

If the motive is financial and the ransom demand now clearly a bust, and Nancy is still alive, and the perp is as intelligent as it seems (sometimes), then why not:

1) have mom or dad or spouse or child setup an interest bearing trust
2) confess to them
3) they turn him in
4) they return Nancy
5) collect 1.1 million
6) serve 15 years
7) retire

This is a big reason I no longer think she is still alive, because surely if he tried to scam 6 million dollars from them he'd also try to scam 1.1 million that would probably be worth 6 million in 15 years, no? And heck, if she was still alive he'd probably get a plea deal for half of that if he plead guilty and filled in the details. So what's to lose?

Personally, I'd rather spend 7-15 in jail than 7-15 always looking over my shoulder.

Lots of people work from home--can change cities--work during trips-rent airbnbs so IMO it could be a person from outside that community.
