Yes, this part is really weird... why use plants when there are a bunch of rocks around... not logical, which is why part of me thinks this person is not as sophisticated and logical as people are assuming. If he had to improvise there and that is what he chose, he probably had to improvise in other ways that don't make sense or can ultimately be traced back to him.
If he smashed the doorbell with a rock, it would ring

Yea that’s a good point.

Ok, I am stumped then too, must be digital forensics and maybe that takes time? Hopefully using Berla on it.
I also wondered if it has to do with the car's GPS but I guess it would make more sense to look at the GPS on NG's car to track back where she's been and who she might have run into at those destinations (including stops like gas stations).

Only one thing we know for sure and that is they are not holding AG's car because they have any suspicion that she or her husband's involved because they've been cleared by LE.

How can the AG car still be part of the investigation if the owner (s) of the car are not ? Can someone explain that.
I have a theory that there might be a belief that doing nothing (like leaving a car in limbo) is better than doing what might in any way possible might end up being the wrong thing. So if there is even the smallest sliver of a chance that the car might point to some teeny tiny kind of evidence that someone is afraid they haven't found yet, if no one is clamoring to get the car back, leave it in limbo. JMO, though.

Savannah keeps emphasizing that you can submit tips + get the award anonymously. I hope someone takes that opportunity. $1m that you can receive while keeping your identity discreet. Someone must know who Lantana Guy is. Protecting him is surely not worth foregoing a million dollars and the chance to get justice for Nancy.

Her new Instagram story today saying tips can be anonymous, reward can be paid anonymously/in cash. I know it's been shared, but still very interesting.

It's more of a prosecutory investigative thing than a police one, IMO. They likely still have it because they still need to process it in order to satisfy any defense attempts at reasonable doubt (particularly since AB's source publicly alleged the SIL early on). They probably put processing it on the back burner when the video of an actual suspect came to light. And since it was voluntarily surrendered they likely aren't in any rush.

Yes totally agree! I was really surprised that there's a way to be anonymous and still collect the reward. There's just got to be somebody who knows the person or where NG is or anything that will lead to her location.

To me, an unclaimed 1.1 million dollar reward would say a LOT about the suspect and suspect's circle.

If I had cash and this happened to me, I'd raise it to 6 million for the irony and because 'U dun messed up buddy'.

Did anybody watch BEs report tonight? I found some things strange.
One thing I thought strange is that one can walk into Mexico with no documentation or questions asked.

I admit ignorance of such things, but his experience was so different from that of a friend who was turned away at the Canadian border because they did a check on him and found a DUI two years before.

The lack of questioning would certainly make Mexico a convenient “safe space” for the offender(s).

I asked myself early on ..what would a person pick up to handle a doorbell camera during an attempted robbery…would they pick up a rock to smash and try to destroy it or choose some plants to disable it? NG front door is surrounded by rocks, yet they grabbed a plant from a pot. It’s atypical and it stands out. Moo
ahhhh As in someone who had some respect for the property????????? Some reason not to want to deface it? Had a possibly personal interest in it? Hmmmmmm jmo

In the door video, he is clutching the gun holster in his left hand- grabbing at the doorbell camera with his right....I would guess (?) the gun hand is the dominant hand ....but just a guess. Is it possible he could not find a lefty holster and that kind of led to his funky carry position (looks like a righty holster) or is the lantana right hand the dominant one?

i assumed it was a central holster, lol. One you wear smack dab directly in front of the crotch.

I agree. This time of year, lots of people like to leave windows and doors open (screens only) to get fresh air and it's possible that she felt safe enough doing that with sliding doors in her bedroom since they opened to a small walled in courtyard. That enclosed area might have made her feel safe enough not to lock the window/door.
Unfortunately possible . A couple of EAR’s victims thought that too.

No…it was a waistband holster made for a mid to large frame revolver. Why he chose that for rather small semiautomatic??

If he’d had to run that gun likely would have fallen out.

Interesting theory! I think the Sheriff would still be 'the man' if all of your scenario played out like that though, and it appears he has been sidelined by the big dogs for the most part. But I like the idea, but with a kidnapping for ransom motive, or something else that steers more towards federal oversight.

To your last line - I agree the outfit was worn for a reason, but not for the same reason. I feel like he intended to obscure his looks beyond recognition and to not leave any physical trace behind. Seems to have worked in both regards.

I have wondered if the gait of the way porch man walks, with, his feet turned out, which certainly could be normal for many, is done intentionally to disguise himself, and all part of an act.
