Kill the dog first? Eliminate that disruption of a barking animal that might be recalled or might alert the neighbors? Foreshadowing? Things /people close to/ NG herself will be eliminated? jmo
One thought is the person/ people who did this are very local to NG, like Catalina Foothills, or very nearby. It all ties together. The people had some knowledge of NG, maybe worked for her.

Then, NG went on a national show in Nov.( more info), dog passed, people who knew they could drive with lights off( full moon), very dark area, no lights, few cameras.
Huge desert. Familiarity with AZ, blend in well.

Here is a clip from News Nation with friend of Websleuths Joseph Scott Morgan.
In this clip, they discuss possible elder abuse. Elder abuse doesn't just mean family. Please watch the clip.
My apologies if this has been posted.
I started a discussion thread on this topic

I agree with you.
If we go back to the scene of the crime on Sunday morning before we knew there was a crime, what will we see? We will see AG and possibly TC arrive at Nancy Guthrie’s home a little before noon because they were called by one of Nancy’s friends who were worried about her. Nancy had not shown up at the friend’s home to watch a church service on TV and they could not reach her by phone.
When they arrive, they drive up to the garage. Why? Because they wanted to see if Nancy’s car was in the garage. Also, because that seemed to be the way Nancy usually entered her home as evidenced by the garage door opening and closing timestamps when she was dropped off the night before.
They went through the garage and into the house and found something “disturbing” as described by Sheriff Panos. One of them called 911 right away. 12:03 pm.
The next part is mho because we have not been given much information about what was found inside the home and initial LE information like the release of the 911 call, the point of entry of the suspect, etc. We were led to believe that her phone and watch were found inside. There was presumably blood found inside as well. There did not seem to be anything missing.
Enter LE
Usually, a 911 call for a missing person will elicit a response from a patrol officer who takes the initial report. Was that officer met at the garage by a family member and brought inside that way? Normally an officer responding to a call to take a report would walk up to the front door and knock or ring the bell. Once inside, it may have been apparent where a suspect entered the home, but we have not been told definitively there was forced entry.
The responding officer probably called for detectives to respond after viewing the scene. He may have called a supervisor first. Did they also enter through the garage door?
Sheriff Panos, responding to criticism that the crime scene was not secured properly stated that his forensic team spent 20 hours the home.
Unfortunately, I think the forensics team was so intent on gathering evidence inside the home and the point of entry, and garage area, they never checked the exterior of the front door. I find this unbelievable because there was probably a blood trail that led to the front door. Or did Nancy Guthrie try to make a run for it, as best she could and the initial assault occurred inside the front door but, she was dragged back to the interior of the home and it was not apparent she was taken out that way? Either way, there was no excuse for the lack of a complete forensic examination on the exterior of the home.
As you stated, @Mistermagoo, even with the front door forensics examination apparently after the evidence was discovered by BE, the mat and lantana stalks should have been bagged and held for evidence.

A timeline and most information included in this post is available here:

This is tricky isnt it? Did A and T see the scene and exited the house to wait outside for LE, or did they remain inside? I agree that LE would normally approach the front door.

She couldn't hear to comply.
I’m thinking whether she could hear or not, she knew the perps meant business.
I think they likely stood her up, pulled her arm to walk outside, She would have understood they wanted her to walk out of the house.
Of course, She did not want to go, knew she was in trouble, fought hard! Got injured.

No matter how it happened, So sad to think of her last moments of freedom. 😢

I thought the initial ransom amount was 4m and if the deadline passed it went to 6m.

Ransom Demand Breakdown
  • $4 Million (Initial Demand): The first ransom note, received around February 2, 2024, demanded $4 million in Bitcoin. The deadline for this payment was set for 5:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
  • $6 Million (Escalated Demand): The same note specified that if the initial $4 million was not paid by the first deadline, the demand would increase to $6 million in Bitcoin. This final deadline was set for 5:00 p.m. local time on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Yes, I emember that too. So, 2 million each initally or 3 million escalated.

He sure was layered up! He looked chunky or bulky with all his layers of sweaters/jacket when he was sitting, and I was surprised seeing his lower body look slim when walking in.
MOO
Also, wasn’t it over 90° that day? That makes the multiple layers seem even more odd.

I just rewatched the interview and I agree with your thoughts. 100%
One possiblity-she’s on psychoactive meds. Situationally or long term…

Drug users often wear long sleeve shirts to cover their needle marks. We know he had at least one prior drug arrest. However, it isn’t common to layer up for this purpose. Wearing a long sleeve shirt and a vest on an 88° day in the desert does seem odd.
Most landscapers and people who work outside in the desert or other hot areas wear long sleeve shirts to protect from the sun. I wear a light cotton jacket in the summer when outside for the same reason. It is actually hotter when your bare skin is being exposed to the sun for prolonged periods of time. Also, in Tucson in February the mornings would be on the cooler side because of the dry air, which heats fast when the sun is out and cools fast when the sun goes down.

While I'm not quite Nancy's age, I identify with your statement. When I was quite young I was jumped from the back seat while in my car. The only thing that saved me was keeping my left leg hanging out the door so the perp could't close it. With a knife in one hand, trying to hold onto me, he was unable to reach across me to try to close the door. I had always heard "Don't EVER let the door close...nothing good will come of it." Fortunately with my screaming and people walking by, he took off.
The next day was Thanksgiving...and I've NEVER been so thankful to have been able to celebrate with my family. Every Thanksgiving has new meaning...with a warning to be remembered.
Wow. That was quick thinking on your part! Along with "Don't ever let the door close" is the warning "Don't ever let the perp take you to a second location." If you have to, fight to your death at Location #1 because you will almost certainly be killed in a remote location at Location #2.

I was wondering the same thing
Re wrist tattoo, I could not see it in pics myself, but I believe you, it’s there, many have noted it.

People are constantly removing tattoos, or covering over, if it was a recognizable tattoo before.

There are so many tattoo parlors, many are not even licensed or regulated. Or sometimes friends work on each other. Removal used to be a burning or a skin planing method. Could be red for a month, scar there. Probably cover over is easiest? Probably heals faster too?

I thought what @SaraSmile said made sense, that he was trying to look dressed up for his tv interview. I note he had a tie on. Instead of a sportcoat, he put on that dressier type of vest with a notched lapel. jmo

And yet the outcome seems null and void.
I feel the same way, it’s embarrassing to have SWAT and then there’s nothing to see there!

I do not have an opinion as to whether gentleman interviewed is potential perp but his layers of clothing on a hot day in AZ are interesting to me as were obvious layers of clothing worn by Porch Man. I even posted about that after video was released, thinking Porch Man must have gotten hot with all that on. Only my musings.
And seem out-of-sync with the man himself. IMO.

I bet porch man got hot, but when you are on a mission, and the disguise is temporary, it was a minor inconvenience. JMO

We don’t know enough to be sure (edit: but it’s definitely possible). If power was cut and the router powered off as a result, power returned to the router at some point before the camera was taken away. That much we do know.
If the clocks in the house are blinking then we know the power was cut. We just don’t know IF they were blinking.

I think the searches yielded some good information for them. We won’t know exactly what it is though.
Here’s a local article on what the sherrif had to say about them. It’s edited poorly with a lot of misspelled words imo.

Excerpt
“In an interview with 12News Tuesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained how they narrowed on Daley has a target. His full quote is below:
"We develop a lead and we follow it, and we get it going. And pretty soon it's, oh, wait, we've got this. Oh, wait, we learned this about this person. Maybe that person is a person of interest. Maybe he's a suspect. We develop it. We come back in here and we talk in our own command room right here, somebody from the county attorney, get some legal advice and other FBI agents or other detectives from other agencies. We share this. We go the US attorney at the FBI command post, same thing, and they come up with a strategy. They say, okay, let's get a search warrant. So we go to a judge who either agrees with us or doesn't he signs that warrant. We now have a court order that process goes through the day based on the leave we're following. So in this case, that gentleman, whether it was the one in Rio Rico or the one up here on the north side, at 1st & Orange Grove, we developed a person of interest. We surveyed him. He left. Both of them left their residences. We made a traffic stop on both of them, held them. Per our court order, we had to search the homes. Those homes, people are inside them, family, friends, whatever. We can't have them there. While we search, are they being detained? Of course not. They're free to leave, but they can't be in the home. We knew we were looking for one person at that home, and the other person we're looking for is Nancy. Nancy wasn't there. The person of interest gave us a statement, gave us his whatever the warrant was for, maybe petition for physical characteristics of buccal swabs or photos or finger we got everything we needed, and he is set free now. Does that mean he's not a suspect any longer? No, we'll do our work. We've got evidence to process from the home. What if we find Nancy's DNA in that home? Right?"
