You’re welcome!

Yes, Tucson for the most part is a working-class and university city. The really high-grade and expensive rock and mineral specimens are either in well-protected shops/storage units, or in opulent houses out in the desert that probably already have a good security system.
So a gem theft going bad is not high on the list of probabilities in this case?

We have dissected that camera footage , the infared, the lantana man's outfit for a month. IMO, the clues are not there. The clues as to what is really going on are contained in the Instagram posts from SG and family to the perp and the ransom notes. Do you really want to know what has been going on? Do yoi really want to know who the cops think they are dealing with? They are contained in the Instagram responses from SG. JMO

Would this be what you are referring to?

This is the right side of the house. Lantana man appears on the door nest cam from the right side.

I can’t tell exactly as our box looked different. But it certainly could be.

NO. Here are the dates. Note main event vs city wide eventS. Plus, he kidnapped an old lady. Would he kidnap any old lady? Did he want gems, an old lady or a specific old lady? jmo

The 71st Annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show® (TGMS), the main event, will take place from February 12–15, 2026, at the Tucson Convention Center. The broader "Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase" (city-wide events) runs from January 28 to February 15, 2026.

If I had to come up with an explanation on this point (I don't remotely think this is what actually happened) it could be that if they were a hired goon, maybe they were told to get the gems but if there aren't any in the house, take the owner so they could find out where the gems are but they got the wrong house and didn't know what the owner of the 'gem house' looked like

Very far-fetched and again, I don't believe it, just spit balling

Nancy Grace bothers me, she is a talking head. She doesn't know anything about this case, or Tucson. She just blathers on about nothing.
Good morning all and Happy Friday,
I can’t watch Nancy Grace, she’s annoying and her eyes are creepy. She’s scary looking and seems mean. MOO

With the head lamp he has to push a button with one hand. With the bite light he does not have to use his hands at all. IDK if that was a factor in his thought process.

He may be more comfortable with the mouth light, use it for work, etc.

One idea I had is that he dressed in layers so he could change the outfits. The other layers were other disguises. So that is why he might not want a waist belt on the backpack. Or the head light. He needs to change in an instant. Like actors on stage in pull away costumes. IDK. I am thinking out loud.
My head lamp allows you to wave a hand in front of it to turn it off and on. But even on the dimmer setting, it’s way brighter than a tiny keyring light. Too bright for his purposes, I think.

Hoping for some answers and resolution to this sad situation. The not knowing has got to be so very hard on the Guthrie family.

So what was the point of the tiny keyring light? Does it throw enough light to see anything? Did it serve any practical purpose?

... and she yells too much.

He thought so! He brought the smallest, least cumbersome source of illumination he needed. He could have carried a torch, a flashlight or been accompanied by a fire-breathing dragon. He was aided, by choice of date or happenstance, that there was a full moon that night. Mission accomplished. jmo

More of Briana Whitney’s interview yesterday with Sheriff Nanos. I found it very interesting what he says about the photos of the suspects that were released and whether they were on different days. He says they have no evidence they were taken on different days.
Sheriff Nanos also addresses the gloves and that searchers from the Sheriff’s Dept. would not have left them after searching.

Yes, those tiny keyring lights work very well for short distances. I used to have one and loved it. You can see the perp flash it on when he approaches the porch step, to make sure he doesn’t trip. In the pitch dark, it’s enough for that. He also uses it when dealing with the Nest doorbell cam.

A head torch can be used for hiking and walks on unlit roads. I’ve used mine for that. This is different. It’s a tiny thing that might illuminate a car door or front door to make key insertion easier.

In the video, the light seems to be offset, coming from the side of the mouth. Also, it looks like we see teeth, which may be part of a mesh mask. Hard to say. But we don’t see a typical flashlight or bite light (like the Illumibite) protruding from the mouth.

This is available on Amazon. I’m sure there are many of similar type sold in costume shops, party stores, etc. I’m not sold on a double mask theory, but it certainly possible.
On the video, do you see teeth and an unmoving mouth, when the flashlight is off? And the light coming from (roughly) where the mouth appears? That’s what I’m seeing. So it’s possible that we’re seeing a thin, mesh-type mask (under the ski mask) that covers the real mouth entirely, shows teeth/lips and allows light to shine through it. If it’s thin enough, it could mean that the moustache is real and showing through the mesh.

I don’t think the video is good enough to rule anything in or out, though. Real face, rubber/silicone mask, mesh mask – all possible.

Has LE said the ransom notes were ABSOLUTELY genuine? Having a hard time believing the note is real without the kidnappers offering some proof of life.

The bite light is also interesting. I've only seen tradesmen use these...mechanics, electricians and such.

In a nutshell....OBNOXIOUS. jmo
Yes, that's her schtick IMO. I wonder how much she is like that in real life? Probably close to the same.

the FBI AGENTS in the above video are wearing blue gloves. Discarded gloves people are seeing along the road etc are BLACK gloves. Searchers, LE etc, imo didnt wear black gloves. So gloves found and tested were not from sloppy searchers who discarded them. jmo

Wouldn’t he need to take it out of his mouth to talk? There would be salvia on his face and gloves, he had to have left some trace in the house. Since LE hasn’t been able to identify the DNA yet, is it most likely he doesn’t have a criminal record?
