I do NOT like the thought of DNA they found.... I mean, I am glad cause Orhram can solve that quickly. But I don't like the thought of why they have DNA. Why are some people so disgusting and cruel?

I'd like to believe if something did happen, she picked up that cane and whacked whoever it was and they have his blood.

I think I know what you're thinking. But it's also possible that the DNA might come from something else besides semen. For instance, the suspect could've touched something on the door while breaking in, or that they could've smoked a cigarette and gotten saliva on it, or something like that.

Just have to jump ahead for a few minutes (so many great ideas) but this bothers me because I have many elderly clients. Has a "relative/relatively new" younger person been spending time with Nancy....maybe too much time? Has Nancy recently been asked for money by this "new person.?" Or did they borrow money with promises of repayment which never came? Was Nancy getting ready to "call police" or tell someone or some agency that she was feeling financially victimized? Did she recently terminate or intended to terminate the services of someone who frequented the property? Pool, housekeeping, gardeners, pest control, monthly tank or water servicing? Did someone recently ask for cash instead of check? (I have seen this tactic used by a perp just to see if the victim keeps a lot of cash on the property. They stay at the front door and their accomplice is watching through a back window to see where the victim keeps their cash.) A recently released "sx offender" moved in the neighborhood....who does the parole officer see in the area?!!!!

Liz Kreuz NBC correspondent said she had an update talked to the Sheriff he said she was harmed but doesn’t know how badly. I’m pretty sure they have a person of interest but haven’t caught the perp yet therefore they cannot share the info to scare him or her off.

Just my opinion, but with cell phone geofencing and satellite imagery, along with any area camera footage, as well as DNA evidence, it's likely LE has the perp in sight, but don't know where the body is yet; AND are giving the remaining Guthrie family members time to realize on their own that there won't be a happy ending. LE is likely watching the suspect and may do so for the next week or two or three; unless/until they locate Nancy.

Can you help me? I have watched and read all the articles and I can find nowhere the Sheriff says she cannot drive to church by herself. (maybe it's the semantics of some article) I'm sorry to ask, but I'd really like to know where that is because I know a lot of not normally abled people and they vary as to what they are capable of. Most drive better than they can walk. And again, limited mobility is relative. She would not be running out of the house during a fire most likely, but that doesn't mean she could not hobble her way out just fine.

But it is true we don't know how she was supposed to arrive at church on Sunday. Just that she didn't arrive on Sunday and was expected to.

I don't know if she drove which is why I posted all those questions.
A family friend was paralyzed from the waste down and his vehicle was re-designed so he could drive.
You have more faith than I in thinking being able to wobble is good enough to escape a fire.
I think the sheriff muddied the waters with his comments on her not being able to get out the door and then she can't walk more than 150 yds.

I'm going back to listen to Ashley Banfields video and maybe she can clear up Nancy and driving.

Savannah’s recent statement to me felt odd as well. I know she’s religious, but it heavily focused on God and prayers without mentioning much about her mom other than wanting to bring her home. Maybe it’s nothing, but I found it very strange and wondered if it was strategic, somehow.

I wonder if there are multiple doors - so for example she could get to her car via a garage or door without a step, but the door it seems she left by had a step or steps and wouldn’t be her usual path and so she wouldn’t have left that way on her own. My grandma’s house was like this - she had bad knees and used a cane but still drove, she just never used the front door because it had several steps and she didn’t trust herself when she was alone.

To answer the question about why someone at church was worried enough to call family, maybe she had a volunteer role that week and didn’t let anyone know she wouldn’t be there. I think if she missed a random Sunday at church maybe no one would be concerned, but if she missed a Sunday that she usually volunteered to read or be in the nursery or something, or had otherwise said she would be there like telling a friend she would see them tomorrow and then wasn’t there, someone would check on her and then contact family if she didn’t answer the phone or a text.

Y'all. She didn't wander off. She didn't fall in her house and get harmed. HER abilities and independence have nothing to do with this!!!!! Why is this even being discussed?? I get that it makes people feel better or safer if they can shift blame to a victim or their loved ones, like well that would never happen to me. But it could happen to any one of us. Her use of a cane didn't get her abducted

Thank you for this! I work with seniors and this is not the first time I’ve been surprised by some people here assuming that everyone of a certain age is senile, weak or a helpless invalid. One of the ladies I know is 102 and still completely mobile, active, and lives on her own. It’s bizarre to see so many posts making demeaning assumptions about this woman and/or saying she shouldn’t have lived as she did based on so little information.

As I think someone else also indicated, it's possible that the conditions were unsettling to a detective or other experienced law enforcement professional who was checking for evidence of foul play but weren't unsettling to a family member who was focused on looking for their loved one and not for evidence.

Good point. Maybe LE and Savannah have a particular suspect in mind who is known to be religious? Maybe her statement is a message or plea to that person?

Agreeing and wanting to add a point (apologies for OT, but I'm reading here and feel compelled to add my two cents on this subject as have others).

Sure there could, there might be a remote possibility of a fire one day, but if that becomes a reason for a person with some mobility challenges to be prevented from living in their own home, on their own terms, then moo... that is ridiculous and that is ablelist IMO.

Anyone in these circumstances might have a 'what if' fire plan, a plan of action in the event of a fire, it could involve an emergency contact, a practiced route to the nearest exit, idk but you get the drift. Jmo

Quite often Seniors watch out for each other at Church. If a friend doesn't show up, they call other friends/family if they can't reach the missing friend on the phone. I saw this in action with my Mom and her Church friends. It was quite effective at making sure no one was left laying on the floor at home after a fall...so it makes perfect sense that a Church friend called the family.
