It's shameful to SA an elderly woman (yes, I know it's shameful for any age victim). But even among pervs and criminals, you don't SA elderly women.

Shame + evidence could be a motivator to a perp to take the victim's body.

However, we don't know she was taken alive or not! We don't know the nature of her leaving the home against her will.

But if she were SA, I think shame would be a reason to remove her.

Possibly, but a perp who would sexually assault an 84 year old lady isn't likely to have shame wired into his DNA.

It's true that we don't know she was alive when she left the home, but there is an insinuation that she was alive due to the "small drips, like from a nose bleed" comment from the Sheriff. That isn't definitive, of course, but it was stated on purpose like every other public comment from a law enforcement agency is.

IF he checked on her around 1am or later, that would be odd.... but by now I'd think LE have a good idea where people were outside of whomever harmed Nancy ?

No poi's, no suspect, and no vehicle description yet.
Still unsure if it was an inside job aka the staff or someone known to them ?
Imo.
Maybe they have access to her ring camera and received a notification that someone was at her door, so he went to check on her?

Praying that Nancy Guthrie is found safe & unharmed.
I find it odd that I haven't heard anything about local LE organizing a search on foot of the area of her home and neighborhood? Maybe I missed that somewhere.
LE said yesterday they called off the searching, and I'm assuming they made the decision for a reason (that we don't know).

I am troubled by the fact that if the family went in there and saw a scene that was enough to make the police turn it into a crime scene and call in homicide, they didn't call the police within 5 minutes, instead of spending an hour searching for her on their own.
I don’t think that is unusual. Maybe the “crime scene” evidence wasn’t immediately visible and they had thought she had been picked up by a friend. Especially if she has an active social life that would be my first thought.

We've discussed on the thread here and there about another case where exactly that happened. A man SA an elderly woman in her home and then removed her body to hide it elsewhere. Many of us remember that case so it comes to our minds.

But, it's just one theory at this point. We don't know what happened yet.

It’s possible that they do have a suspect and they don’t want to tip him off. I can see this especially if it’s someone within their tight circle.

What time is the press conference and where can I watch it? Thanks.

If that happened around or after 1am, one would assume he'd call LE right then and there, though ?
If he checked and she was not in the house between the time when LE believe Nancy went missing/was abducted, 1am-4am..
Imo.

I think that it is someone known to her or her family. It doesn't seem random. This seems planned to me.

A random killer, it is pretty easy to find an elderly woman, in a much less affluent area, if the person wanted to rape or kill.

That makes sense. Hindsight is always 20-20, isn't it? The police - who know what they are looking at/for were very quick to call this a crime scene and call in homicide. Her family probably saw nothing alarming, other than the fact that she was not in the house, or on the grounds.
I am thinking they looked around a little first, noted the wallet and phone still there and then when looking around outside noted her ring camera gone and some small amount of blood drops on the pavement and then called 911. Whatever they described about the scene had the sheriff's department send out homicide detectives pronto.

Oh okay, that makes sense then. Ugh. I hope that't not what happened.

My mom has a pacemaker. Hers syncs with her phone once every night at a time that was programmed. Then it sends details to her doctor. No tracking device. But she does have to be 6 ft or less from her phone. The other option was to sync to a device installed by her bed but same 6 ft rule.

Therefore, I’m guessing the 2am time was the daily sync and not necessarily indicating that she was snatch or left (or worse) after that.
Yes - my husband has a pacemaker, and the news is acting as though the pacemaker stopped, but all it really tells them is that she was too far away from her phone at that time or the phone or Bluetooth was off.

Savannah Guthrie posted a new message, she does not physically appear to make a statement.
I cant imagine the horror this family is going through.

"Bring her home."

"Today" show host Savannah Guthrie has released a statement amid her 84-year-old mother's disappearance, with investigators saying she is believed to have been abducted from her Arizona home while she was sleeping.Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Her family reported her missing on Sunday around noon local time, authorities said.

Reminds me of so many cases on Dateline where a worker or acquaintance murders the homeowner. I’m reminded of the great Sean Taylor (Redskins) who gave “friends” good money to do work around his home, plus he treated them kindly. They broke into his home and killed him. You never know who to trust.

Oh Sean Taylor.....so sad. I remember that. Yes that could be a possibly. There's been a lot of speculation locally it has something to do with SG being a well known person, but I'm not sure about this. There's a lot of crazy stuff being spread by both sides politically online and it's beyond sad.
