If TMZ isn’t an approved resource, please remove. I found it interesting they mention the front door to her home was kicked in.

Snipped from above article:

Nanos initially told NBC News, “When you’re taken from your bed and you don’t want to go somewhere, that’s an abduction.” But Nanos “meant that figuratively and did not mean she was literally taken from her bed,” the sheriff’s department later clarified to NBC.

Okay, this is what I was referring to when I commented earlier that the Sheriff appears to use oblique and somewhat misleading, albeit unintentionally, language when describing some of the facts of the case.

There's a big difference between being taken literally from your bed and figuratively from your bed.
Main difference being I'm not even sure what being taken figuratively from your bed even means.

Most Sheriffs are not trained wordsmiths. I've heard some positively butcher the King's English.
This is not a criticism of LE, again, just pointing out language arts is not typically their area of expertise.

For that reason, I really am not reading anything into his use of the term "abduction."

I really do think he just means she didn't leave the home willingly/of her own volition, but was removed by others, i.e., she was "abducted."

JMO.
My guess on this is that NG had gone to bed. There was evidence in her bed that she had been in bed.

However, no one knows if she was asleep or still in bed at the time she was accosted. Perhaps a noise awakened her and she had gotten up to check?

If she was checking out her house instead of calling someone, then she is different from what I think I would do if I ever hear a break-in in the middle of the night. But never having been in that situation, I can't be sure I wouldn't go to check out whatever I was hearing instead of sheltering somewhere and calling 911 as I think I would do.

I agree. In my opinion, he's handled everything very poorly. He started yesterday's press conference with a political rant that he had to apologize for. He was all over cable news yesterday giving interviews, and also talking to a number of print/online publications, including US magazine of all people, who said they had an exclusive from him. All while not being very careful with his words, which he acknowledged today.

I agree.
I think he’s had a meeting with some expert on how to handle the media. He came off as caring more about getting through the press conference and getting an A from his consultant than actually caring about what he was saying…which was nothing.
It seemed more of an appearance or even a performance than a press conference.
It was worthless but the important thing is finding NG.

I would have thought that in their position I would have called LE sooner rather than later. But I guess we're all different.
They may have thought she was on the property and were just trying to figure out what happened and make sure they had information. Time flies fast when you are in shock and have an emergency. Jmo

JMO, I don't recall reading about or hearing LE confirm the front door was kicked in. I did read signs of forced entry but the sheriff hasn't even confirmed THAT that I know of. I wonder if some of the info about blood about forced entry etc have come from family members or family insiders and not LE.

Sadly, I think perp knew of her, I think Nancy fought for her life, she’s a mentally strong woman, I believe she lost the fight in her house, perp unalived her panicked and transported her body to dispose her somewhere not to be found, so she would only be a missing person instead of finding her body and evidence on her in the house, maybe there was two perps? I hope I’m wrong JMO

This reminds me when Wade Wilson Killed Kristen Melton in her home, he tried to drag her to his trunk to transport her but she was too heavy so he wrapped her up in her own blankets and clothes from her closet to hide her, didn’t work
I tend to agree that this kidnapping or whatever it was did not go as planned. They may well have taken a body out of the house..it is a big Sonoran desert out there. Any mention of searching? I have not really heard anything.

think he had a little talking to by the FBI
I understand that PCSO is the lead agency, but if I were the Sheriff, I would hand over the press/public information duties to the FBI.

He struggles to communicate clearly and accurately, e.g., "abduction" terminology being used very loosely,
"taken from her bed" apparently being meant figuratively, not literally, etc.

One concern I have is that they are so close to the border. If the person(s) who did this are trying to cover up a murder, how hard would it be for them to cross into Mexico and get lost? I'm asking because I sincerely don't know.
At least when I’ve gone, getting into Mexico is pretty easy. Mexican agents look at our passport cards and let us go. They do a cursory check of the car. Coming back is a lot more thorough. Where it gets dicey is the checkpoints near the border. If you get caught up in one of those it can take several hours. It’s certainly possible that someone took her to Mexico, but I can’t figure out why - ransom is just as easy in the States, Savannah is famous but not really on the cartel radar unless we’re missing something, and NG wasn’t young enough to concoct a marriage/new life scam.

My Great Aunt was SA in her 80's. He broke into her home. Disgusting.
A lot of people aren't aware that for a lot of predators, it isn't just about being young and innocent. It's taking power over the most vulnerable. The easiest kind of person to have physical control over besides a child is a little old lady. Just MO

I am not sure if TMZ is allowed either but they just posted on FB that they recieved a randsom email and they have forwarded it LE.
Saying it was very specific.
I don't see it on TMZ yet but a video is posted on their FB page.

The sheriff mentioned in the press conference that the family got a call from someone at church or something like that when she didn't show so they went over there, looked for a bit themselves and then called police.

12:30 here
She was probably on the dot a regular attendee/participant. She possibly sat on the same spot for service and her priest/pastor church friends probably knew her well. When people get older, an absence may mean a passing or injury, so i’m not at all surprised her church family was looking out for her and called. Moo

I’m sure everyone will take this with a huge grain of salt. Really interesting though this was posted right after the press conference.

Its just odd to me that they took her. Shes not a child, which are taken. If murder was tge motive (if shes dead) then why not leave the body? Unless there is evidence ON the body…but seems like a ton of work to remove her (alive or otherwise), it must play into the motive, the reason they removed her. Could be ransom. Thats the only reason I can think of.
yes my exact thoughts. it's easier to carry children away, or to make a teenager or young adult walk on their own under duress. an elderly woman, even if she's complying, isn't going to walk fast so you're losing time there and dragging her out is going to expend both energy and time. when i think of cases where the elderly have been murdered, most of them were left in their homes. so i kind of think the motive was financial - either as a ransom or to torture her into giving up CC/bank account info.

then again, people never fail to surprise me with their depravity so i could be totally wrong.

If you follow Savannah at all on Today it is common knowledge that she and her mother are very close.. I doubt any potential kidnappers were totally aware of her walking issues and she appears an easy target.

I would tend to doubt it is true. Lots of crazies will come out of the woodwork with this one. Heaven forbid TMZ doing this for attention and clicks. Moo.

Wasn't there a very recent case where TMZ also received pertinent communication from someone, that was not real?
So many idiot attention seekers....

Yes, not confirmed by LE, only reported by TMZ. It does seem they have some reliable sources on information they share at times. MOO
