And to confirm to the entire planet what a lousy parenting job you did. As a parent they did not hold their child accountable to their grades, they did not allow their child to fail and suffer the consequences, they did not allow their child to learn from real life. Instead, they crippled them, enabled them and essentially shot their kids self esteem into the ground. I hope they have a big Psych fund - they’re gonna need it.

Lol.

The rich have been doing this type of thing forever. They are CEO’s and whatever else.

They have no loss of self esteem. They feel that they are entitled.

From what I read, coaches can “bump” an applicant. It happens all the time, athletes get a boost. So the tennis coach sends an email saying “Jane Doe is a tennis recruit” and the applicant gets treated as such by Admissions. There is no follow-up after admission that the kid actually participates. As long as there is no scholarship involvement it works. These are all sports where not everyone is in a full ride like football and basketball.

I think the children had to know in most cases, but they never actually got put in the teams. Maybe the odd kid had someone write the SAT again for them and they were oblivious.

Edits Okay one kid has a profile on the UCLA women’s soccer page. I assume she will just not show for practices, and get cut as a non-scholarship player?

If you read the charging docs- some of the kids didn't know. Some knew and embraced the process (see spoiled brat mentioned above who flunked a class) Not knowing? for instance one kid was asked by his academic advisor at college about track-replied that he wasn't a track athlete, and advisor said they'd look into it. Parents had exchange w/S's firm about keeping kid in the dark.

LOL

According to her LinkedIn page, Isabelle Henriquez is “a rapid learner” who enjoys “finding the problem and taking a step back to observe all possible solutions.”

According to the FBI, Isabelle Henriquez solved the problem of getting accepted by Georgetown University by knowingly cheating on her SATs—and participating in a $25 million cash-for-college scheme that could send her parents to prison.

Nearly three dozen wealthy parents were indicted as part of a vast confederacy of dunces on Tuesday, after federal investigators alleged that they shelled out millions of dollars to bribe, lie and cheat their children into some of the nation’s top universities.

If you watched the video of Loris daughter, you wouldn’t feel bad
She came across as unappreciative of college and her situation. SMH

If your parents hire someone to help you in the college process, you would have no reason to think that what they are telling you is not kosher. You do what you are asked. I work with high schoolers in the college admissions process. They really don't know how it all works. They depend on the professionals, especially if their parents are wealthy and/or educated.

I'm seven pages behind and this has probably been resolved but I've been sitting on my hands for 4 pages with people saying no way the kids knew. Some of them definitely did. There were documents posted earlier in the thread where one of the dad's was on the phone with his daughter and Singer (or one of Singer's 'employees') and the girl asked how they were planning to fix her F in art class, and when she was told the Singer employee was retaking the class for her and almost had it done she (and dad) agreed that was the best course of action. It's in this thread. Posted straight from the indictments. And there were more like that. Maybe not all knew, but some definitely knew.

Wouldn’t the students know their own SAT scores?

Filled out their application?

Did their own essay?

Some of the kids didn't know that their parents had bribed, via S, the SAT proctor. took test, didn't know it was handed off to a 3rd party who "corrected" their test. One of the kids expressed surprise that their score had improved and wanted to take test AGAIN to see if they'd score even better. There's an exchange between that kids parent and one of the cooperating witnesses laughing about how parent will have to tell kid current score was ok.
Tons of info in charging docs. Some kids knew and were willing participants. Some didn't know and were sheltered from crooked, corrupt scheme by their parents.

Do you think that kids who went to a legacy school feel that they do not deserve their easy entrance?

Absolutely some of these kids knew and some didn't. I have some questions, does anyone know:
  1. Will LE charge the kids who knew about this?
  2. Will it make a difference if the kids are over 18?
  3. Will LE charge the as of yet not charged spouses who were involved?
  4. If the spouse didn't know about the scam but they filed a joint tax return claiming the questionable tax-deductable donation will the spouse be charged for that?

The taxes are a problem. They cannot claim ignorance as they signed the return

If they don't, they should. It's BS

Do you guys think Aunt Becky and the Sex in the City ladies are the “biggest” celeb last involved? I am dying to see the rest of the list. How soon will the other names be public info?!

The people in this indictment have already all been named, but if you scroll back, there is an article that says lots of people who aren't named are "sweating bullets" right now:D:D:D

Can’t wait for the next round of frauds to be reported:

Second tier group. I wonder what some of the less-famous people are thinking about right now

Second tier group. I wonder what Kyle Richards is up to right now

I'm sitting on my hands with that one. This is what she said last night:

“We know a lot of people in that circle and it was really shocking,” she said. Richards, who is friends with Loughlin, said her daughter Sophia, 19, is also close with the actress’ daughters Olivia Jade, 19, and Isabella Rose, 20. “They are really great people,” she said. “I’m really so confused about all of this. Everyone is talking about it today, in our world and our circle. Until today, I had never heard this ever existed.”

rsbm and bbm

They're really something else, aren't they. I really don't care how much money anyone has. But the entitlement here is killing me dead.

It's nothing new. Back in the old days, if Junior was a bit simpleminded, with some money and connections...off to Princeton he went.
And it's not going to change unless these universities start receiving public backlash.
