3 women indicted for deadly child abuse case in east Charlotte

Susan Robinson, Tonya McKnight, and Tery'n McKnight were indicted in the death of 6-year-old Dominique

The indictments were returned against Susan Robinson, Tonya McKnight, and Tery'n McKnight on Monday. The filings upgrade the cases to Mecklenburg County Superior Court.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The grandmother of a 6-year-old girl who died in Charlotte was placed under a $2 million bond during her first court appearance.

Tonya McKnight, who was listed as the girl’s legal guardian and revealed to be her grandmother, was charged on Monday, Dec. 22, with four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of child abuse – inflicting serious mental or physical injury. Her first court appearance took place on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

McKnight was placed under a $2 million bond, her sister, was denied bond altogether.

so Tonya was legal guardian of the victim who was her granddaughter. Susan Robinson is sister to Tonya, and Tery'n McKnight is Tonya's daughter (victim's aunt). Tery'n was apparently hit by a truck prior to her being taken into custody.
