NC - Bella Morris, 4, drugged & smothered, Fayetteville, 5 Nov 2012

On Monday, November 12 in Fayetteville, NC, Jaime Leigh Gardner Morris, 37, was arrested and charged with first degree murder and felony child abuse. Four year old Bella Marie Morris was found unresponsive when her (custodial) grandfather arrived to pick her up after a several hour visit with her mother.

911 was called, the grandfather attempted CPR, but it was too late. The cause of death was asphyxiation, and law enforcement will not provide any other details.

The mother was hospitalized shortly afterward after attempting suicide. Upon her release from the hospital Monday, she was arrested for murder.

They (she and the husband) sound like they were disasters just waiting to happen (which, sadly, did). It's so tragic that Bella had to be a victim of her mother's dysfunction.
