Pregnant North Carolina woman testified against her ex in murder case. Now she’s dead

Police found a pregnant woman shot in a neighborhood in Asheville, North Carolina, just two weeks after she had testified against her ex-boyfriend accused of killing another expectant mother.

Tiyquasha Antwonique Simuel, the pregnant 24-year-old, died, but doctors were able to save her baby, according to multiple reports.

Dixon was found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and malicious maiming. He was found not guilty of murder of an unborn child and not guilty of child abuse while inflicting serious injury."

I don't doubt that he had cronies who could do his dirty work for him. He had quite a few supporters and his facebook page even stayed active for a while. However, he obviously was out at some point if she was pregnant with his child.

I may have missed it; is it confirmed Simuel was carrying Dixon's baby? We know she was in a relationship with Dixon when he killed Pickens. Did their relationship continue beyond that, I wonder?

It appears she was killed because she testified, not anything to do with the pregnancy. It was Candace who was likely killed due to her pregnancy.

Thank you. I knew Simuel was Dixon's EX-gf. I assumed their relationship had ended right after he killed Candace, but wasn't sure if that assumption was correct or not.

That makes more sense. I was rather incensed after reading his facebook page and his playing the victim. So I probably assumed this baby was his as well. Much more likely that he was locked up the whole time.

Hopefully she was dating a stellar young man who will be able to step up and be the dad this baby needs. Break the cycle with this little guy.

The jurors, all of whom were white, deliberated for about nine hours over two days, the Citizen Times previously reported. On top of a life sentence, Superior Court Judge Greg Horne sentenced Dixon, who is Black, to 207-261 months for the attempted murder of 3-year-old Zachaeus; and 96-128 months for the malicious maiming charge.

Dixon is currently being held in the Tabor Correctional Institution in Tabor City.

Dixon’s trial – which lasted over two months – saw the dismissal of several jurors, the killing of a state witness and the eventual dropping of a death penalty pursuit, according to Citizen Times reporting.
