How agonizing. You let her parents/and or the police department know about this? Have you since been able to get on snap chat and see if there was any further communication?

It's sickening to know that all this time if I would've had the possibility of communicating with her that day that this may have not happened, but I literally had no way of seeing. Just got the ability to check snapchat and see it so I am going to let the police department know asap, I don't have her parents profiles and have been searching for them for a bit to tell them but no luck. If anyone can help please do.

The dad reporting that she has been in contact does not necessarily specify the manner of contact. Furthermore, her friend says she sent her an SOS message recently on Snapchat, and provided a screen capture of that message. If CA's contact with her family was via text only, there is no way of knowing whether it is actually her corresponding or if it is the individual she is purportedly with. Looking at her IG, she seemed pretty active until recently, so one would think if she was in a "happy" place and in the company of someone she wanted to be with, that she would likely post about it for the world to see.

TLDR -
Makes no sense why she vanished for so long with no contact, which is why I am skeptical of this particular report of contact.

Exactly. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police still have her as missing.

According to the friend, the SOS snapchat was sent on 8/31 (the day prior to being reported missing/last seen), but was just recently read/received by the friend.

I agree that it would be good to know what type of contact was made with the parents - voice, text, IG, chat, etc.

Theoretically she could have never made it back from Myrtle Beach and perp has been using her phone to make contact with the parents.

Back to back great posts from two different users, and both make key (and distinct) points regarding a potential timeline. LaylaD mentions that the SOS Snapchat - the last semi-verified communication from CA - is on the 31st, which would imply that she is still in Myrtle Beach "with her man" when she sends it.

THEN - insearchoflight brings up a good point in that the very next day - 9/1 - she contacts her parents that she was back from the beach. As insearchoflight also mentions, it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility that her phone had been commandeered by that point. In fact, we've seen it happen way more than we'd like with far too many of these cases.

So, that said - how likely is it for someone to:

A) Make an SOS communication on 8/31.
B) Contact parents with an "A-OK I'm back" THE VERY NEXT DAY. 9/1
C) Be missing 10 days later - and from the day of the purported contact with her parents "post-beach" and the day after the SOS text.

Unlikely if you ask me, but this all is based on an assumption that dad's recent communication with her was via text, and with no eyes and/or ears on her.

If this article is correct, then she was observed in Charlotte after her Myrtle Beach trip. I believe the residence may be a parent's home?

However, experience has shown that MSM can get facts slightly incorrect, so it is possible that this is simply the date/address from which the missing report was filed. Would be great to know which one is correct!

Ms. Alford was last seen leaving her residence enroute to an unknown destination.

It seems to indicate that she was last seen at home. It does not say when she was last seen, however.

Alford had been staying with friends since Aug. 19 but had remained in contact with her family through iMessage, FaceTime and Snapchat during that period.friends since Aug. 19.

However, this story has her last being seen on September 2nd and in Charlotte.

Alford suffers from PTSD and her family is concerned for her well-being.

So, I am rather confused about just when she actually went missing. If she was actually at home and last seen on the 2nd then the 8/31 and 9/1 contacts would not while she was missing.

Her social media indicates that she is a frequent traveling - perhaps impulsively so - young lady. She seems to allude that her mother is similar in that regard. No judgments there - sometimes I wish I could just up and go for a month. So hopefully she just bolted for a bit to some obscure place like southern Patagonia where communications are scarce, and will return shortly.

She was active on IG right up to about a week and a half before date she was reported missing them nothing since.

In one of the comments her dad posted yesterday that Catie called them a few times but she hasn't come home yet. Not sure what that means.
