I also gave the CMPD a picture of his Toyota Scion and the permanent dealer tag issued by NC. Apparently that type of tag is often stolen, and then used on stolen vehicles per the police officers who took the mp report.

Think that is another guy with the same name. The man she is with is a 19 year old white male. His family lives in Stanley county and the CMPD is attempting to contact them.

Possible, however, the male with the warrant is also 19 (DOB 6/13/99). If it is the same guy I can imagine that would have a lot to do with not wanting contact with police and/or knowing her location if they are together.

Since it appears on the Mecklenburg Couty Sheriff's site it means he is wanted out of that jurisdiction and the offense occurred in Mecklenburg County. Since there are no pending court actions in any county in North Carolina and no record in VINELink it means that there hasn't even been an initial arrest for the charge.

Not sure I follow you Jethro, I spoke with the officer in missing persons CMPD this afternoon and the assault happened outside of Charlotte. That said, he indicated that they are still trying to track him down. We have spoken with the fiancée of the suspects sister. He admits that Matt and Catie were staying with Matt’s sister Brittany Starnes and himself until they kicked them out days ago. This was done because Catie and Matt would not comply with their rules. Hopefully we can locate their new location soon.

We aren’t sure how they are supporting themselves. They had been staying with Matt’s sister but we understand thru her fiancée that they were asked to leave. Not sure if they did. No addictions that I’m aware of, but per one of Catie’s friends who knows Matt says that he may be involved with drugs.

Tricia, thanks for taking the time to reach out to me this morning. And thanks for the kind words. As I mentioned on the phone this morning, we have a pretty good idea where she is now. I’m not thrilled with what we know, but at least we have a information that is a bit more concrete. My daughter is a beautiful human being. She is intelligent, talented, and I am so proud to call her my daughter. My wife feels the same way. I may take up the offers to create missing persons posters and will respond soon. We believe we know where she is now (which Tricia and I discussed this morning). I just need to think through the best way to use to disseminate the missing person information. Any ideas are welcome. One option would be to contact any women's organizations or domestic violence type organizations near where you believe your daughter is located. If you explain the situation to them they may be able to try to have a trained representative get in contact with your daughter and see confidentially if she needs help. If Catie is in an abusive situation they may be able to reach out to her as a neutral third party to offer help if Catie would be embarrassed or feel unable to contact you or your wife. They do a really great job and understand the really tricky emotional place many young women feel they are in if they are with potentially abusive or manipulative partners.

Well, I have confirmation of where Catie is staying now. Apparently the CMPD has attempted to interview her which needs to be done to remove the Missing Persons Status. The man she is with lives in a very upscale Apartment Building and I am unable to get to the floor she is on. Sadly, at this time she has no desire to come home. Her friend posted a message to one of Catie’s friends on Instagram and mentioned he has had no job for two months.....his Apartment rents for about 2500.00 per month so it’s going to be a challenge to keep it.

My prayers are with Catie and your family every day. I recently dealt with the same kind of situation. For 2 months I didn’t know where my 18 yr old son was. He disappeared with a girl to a different state. I had know idea where he was. He stopped communicating with everyone. I know a daughter is different but it hurts just the same. And as hard as it was to deal with, I realized I needed to let him go and figure out things for himself. As soon as I quit the desperate search for him it wasn’t long before he came back home. Maybe the attention is making her distant herself more. Try reverse psychology. It worked for me. Imo. One day if she has kids of her own she’ll understand how you feel. Anything new you can share Mark? At least she is in contact now. I am hoping that she will get home to you and the rest of your family sooner rather than later. A daughter always needs her daddy! Through the bad and the good. I know I always did. Blessings to you and your family.
