Here is a nice article about him....sounds like our world has lost yet another interesting, bright soul: http://www.citizen-times.com/story/...naissance-man-loved-doctor-musician/87535134/

Thanks for the link WonderMore

And more recently, he had set up a studio in the yellow house he shared with his wife on Tree Top Drive, where longtime friend and singer-songwriter Whittington last year recorded her first album, “Muse.”

Whittington, now of Greeneville, Tennessee, had once worked in McCutcheon’s office and admired his concern and careful explanations to patients. But they also shared a musical affinity, and as she began penning songs, McCutcheon volunteered to produce her album, also accompanying her with instruments including the guitar, banjo and drums.

“He engineered and mastered it and we were about to start a new project this past weekend,” Whittington said. “He was my brother, my mentor, my family, my musical perfect counterpart. He was my beautiful friend, and he’s not here.”

Just reading the news articles, having listened to the 911 call, and with all our prior "experience", everthing points to only one person.

Now we just need to know the rest of the story as to what was truly going on in this marriage / business. My intuition says LE is waiting until after the funeral to make any moves. You know she is being watched 24/7.

My opinions only.

'Renaissance man' loved as doctor, musician

[…] Not long after the move to Asheville, McCutcheon dropped into an Irish jam session at downtown bar Jack of the Wood and there met lifelong fiddler Beanie Odell.
[…] On a SoundCloud channel, McCutcheon posted several songs he had sung and mastered, playing all instruments himself.
[…] She points particularly to an Appalachian spiritual, “Bright Morning Stars,” where McCutcheon harmonizes with himself. In an email, he told her he’d like a version of the song to be played at his funeral one day.

If this doctor was a cosmetic plastic surgeon, there could definitely be a client who was very upset
at him. I know someone who worked for a cosmetic surgeon, and even though he was one of the best
in the city, some vain people felt it was never good enough. Also, some husbands do not want their
wives to have the surgery.

As for the 911 operator, she was fabulous... kind yet professional. However, one thing I wish
all operators would say right off the bat, is "Help is on the way". They start asking all kinds of
questions and, for some people, they don't realize the operator already has the address and
police have been dispatched. Also, it's calming in an emergency to hear, "Help is on the way"
and have that repeated occasionally.

I know the questions have a purpose (to help ground the person in distress, as well as gather info).

I guess cell phones don't show a street location and number as a landline does?

Detectives: Motive, suspects unknown in doctor's death
1:36 p.m. EDT August 4, 2016
BUNCOMBE COUNTY - Nearly three weeks have passed since a doctor was found dead in his home by his wife, and a motive along with any suspects connected to the shooting have not been identified as the case continues to be under an active investigation, . . […]
Dr. Frank Buddy McCutcheon Jr., 64, was found dead of a single gunshot July 16 in his Arden home. The case is being investigated as a possible homicide, one that came shortly after McCutcheon and his wife were informed about a financial investigation into their practice at Cosmetic Surgery of Asheville by the North Carolina Department of Revenue. […]
No one has been charged in connection to Frank McCutcheon's death, and no additional information was being released Thursday as the case remained under investigation, according to spokeswoman Natalie Bailey with the sheriff's office. […]

http://www.cosmeticsurgeryofasheville.com/about-us/

He practiced in his home state of Arkansas until 1999 when he accepted an opportunity to return to North Carolina, the state in which he did his residency training in Plastic Surgery.

Dr. McCutcheon is especially pleased to introduce the staff of Cosmetic Surgery of Asheville. Each is an exceptional individual and, while all of our staff work together as a team to provide our patients with the best care experience possible, each has particular areas of experience and expertise in which they excel.

BRENDA – Brenda is the Office Manager of Cosmetic Surgery of Asheville and has managed the office from its opening in 1999. She is a Registered Nurse and serves as the Facility Director for our AAAASF accredited surgical facility. She works directly with our patients both before and after surgery to make certain everything goes smoothly and that the surgical experience is as stress free and pleasant as possible. Brenda also performs all of our laser hair reduction treatments.

She is not listed as his wife, I am assuming this is his wife. Has it been reported when they married? Still looking.

Still wondering when there will be an arrest.
I don’t know when they married, but I’m guessing their marriage was in Arkansas.
I found this WARRANTY DEED dated 1986 which lists Brenda as “wife of Frank B. McCutcheon, Jr. The document was recorded in Washington County, Arkansas.

I keep watching and hoping for someone to be brought to justice for this crime. He was a very nice man. I'm no expert but with no danger to the community, and nothing taken from the home...

:Welcome1:

Yes …. “no immediate threat to the community”. LE must know something critical that isn’t being divulged to the public.

“There is no immediate threat to the community, and the investigation into this incident is ongoing,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.

WLOS — BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -- Dr. Frank McCutcheon's death remains a mystery.
His brother John has spoken to News 13 from Arkansas since the investigation began, and has repeatedly said Brenda McCutcheon, Frank's wife, is the "salt of the earth." […]
"Yes, there's been a lot of discussion," said Ribelin, who also said neighbors have been discussing the case and asking each other about Brenda. "She was not well known in the neighborhood, and actually didn't have any friends in the neighborhood that we've been able to know about."
Others who live closer to the home confirmed the couple was private. […]
A next-door neighbor who knows Brenda McCutcheon, but did not wish to speak on camera, said McCuthcheon is a good woman, and thinks she nothing to do with her husband's death. […]

Can someone explain how their gun was found in the ivy outside their home? I don't understand that piece.

It is very bizarre that a gun was found in the outside ivy. But from what I know, LE has not stated with certainty who that handgun belongs to. And LE did not find a gun nearby the victim when he was found deceased on a couch in the downstairs room.

About the gun in the ivy and no gun near Frank’s body, here is wording of the Probable Cause Affidavit, in support of a Search Warrant:
. . . crime scene personnel located a handgun believed to belong to Frank and Brenda McCutcheon located on the ground in some rows of ivy between #43 and #45 Tree Top Drive, Arden, North Carolina.
. . . Deputies arrived and found Frank McCutcheon deceased inside the residence. Deputies observed an injury to Frank McCutcheon’s head which appears to be a gunshot wound. Deputies have been unable to locate a firearm within close proximity to Frank McCutcheon’s body.

My guess is that it was the murder weapon, the killer knew where it was kept, and afterward the killer threw it in the dense ivy thinking that there wouldn't be much of a search outside.

And i firmly believe the killer was someone very close to him, who was intimately familiar with their home.
