So he got ready for work, but then walked away?
Does he have history of dementia, or of temporary memory loss?
If it was him with the bag, still walking around, then he was/is looking for something/someone.
does he have a history of recreational drug use? Not to say that is what happened, but maybe someone slipped him something.
maybe he was meeting someone, something happened and now he doesn't remember who he is, where he is supposed to be.

Just thinking out loud

I read that he was in a fender bender is there anything in his MIL. Back ground that the accident could have triggered ptsd or a flash back I ask that because he ditched the phones / safety precautions no tracking / grabbed his weapon (drilled in to you in mil.) And also saw that police said dogs were going in circles again MIL . Trains you how to blend and survive and evade enemy detection and to mask your sent if he went back in to combat mode due to a flash back he would most likely have headed to the woods where he could disappear .

@AGT interesting logic. I am his Girlfriend. Thank you all for your input and ideas. I sat with LE on Monday and they keep at it, because they find this so odd.
I think the answers might be found in his time in the MIL the accident could have triggered a flash back and in his head was back in a past situation every thing he did after the accident screams mil. Training from ditching tracking devices (phone) to grabbing only his gun to the way he was walking on alert scanning for the enemy . To evading sent dogs and causing them to go in circles .

Just got back from our nature trail in the neighborhood. Kids were digging in a creek looking for salamanders and found 2 bones. The search will continue in the morning.

Skeletal Remains Discovered in Indian Trail

On Tuesday evening, UCSO deputies responded to a call concerning the discovery of skeletal remains along a creek bed near the Arbor Glen subdivision in Indian Trail. Deputies determined that some teenagers had been walking in the wooded area near the creek when they observed parts of what appeared to be human bones.

Are the two posts related about the creek bed, as in are they the same creek bed?
Not wanting this to be FST, but also it would provide a little bit of relief. Hoping for more news soon!
