According to this article, the remains were found in dense woods. It's plausible that no one noticed a decomposing human on a utility pole for that long considering where it was- but it sounds unlikely. It would certainly be bizarre if the decedent was on the pole instead of near it.Maybe by or near a utility pole? Not on it?

The possibility is there given they're only 2 weeks into the investigation. Perhaps military investigators are sorting through the list of airmen who are AWOL while the ME and lab work on getting DNA from the deceased. There are 5 civilians who are listed in NamUs as missing from Goldsboro, NC. There's likely nothing to this but I find it oddly interesting that 4 of the 5 went missing in late Aug/early Sept.Would a missing airman be too simple here?
