Some original questions we had on the case were - HOW did the perp get there and WHERE is the car. Both have been answered. He walked in (assuming the video guy is the perp) and ditched the car reasonably close by.

Screams "local" doesn't it?

The reason I asked about public transportation is because I am curious to know if perhaps the man walking in the video might not have a vehicle of his own. If somehow we could determine that, it could somewhat narrow down who he is.
When I lived in the ‘Burgh, you’d always see the regular riders & could get a feel for their routine/lifestyle.
I realize, even then, it’d be casting a very wide net, but...that was my thought process anyway. MOO

Since there are woods here and there around the mobile park, the perpetrator may not have expected Hania to start up a vehicle.

It is possible that he was prepared to abduct her and take her quickly towards the woods to escape with her.

It has been reported that Hania did not usually start the car, especially by herself. Also reported that Hania was told not to do this.

It is the worst case that Hania was outside by herself and had the keys and started up the vehicle.

In any other situation this would have been okay.

But, unfortunately, there was a perpetrator who was right there.

Yes, absolutely agree

Wonder if the Food Lion or the Lumberton Kia have any sort of video on the outside to get more of an idea since those two are the closest businesses. Unfortunately, so many businesses have fake cameras or inoperable ones.

Great thinking!

One more thing...the man walking, IMO is smoking a cigarette, I would be willing to bet money on it. Checking gas stations (or any store in the immediate area) cams for a smoker purchasing cigarettes would be ideal. MOO

I agree

Just based on where he deposited the vehicle he had to have known that area. Because there were other areas where fields were and not any homes or businesses around where he could have got rid of the vehicle instead.

Instead he chose a spot where there was another home not far at all and so he had to know that lot was wooded enough to hide the vehicle and hide his movements.

All telling me that he had been in that town before at least. Whether he was staying in that town or passing through he seems he had to know a lot about the town.

FBI Charlotte on Twitter | 12:47 PM (EST) - 9 Nov 2018

Investigators need the Lumberton community to identify a man seen walking on surveillance video near the kidnapping scene. He may have information to help us #FindHania. Watch the entire video, there are 3 camera angles. Do you know him?

Poultry plants seem to be the large employer in this area. Mountaire, Sanderson.
(I’m thinking Jayme Closs’s father worked at one too)

So Hania was taken around 7:00 AM Monday and they find the vehicle just 6.4 miles away around 8 AM Thursday. That's 3 full days later. The vehicle is clearly visible from the air. Did they not do an aerial search? It's difficult to tell how visible it is from the ground, but it doesn't seem very well concealed. (As this pic from aerial video shows.) I find it surprising how long it took to find the vehicle. Also, it's interesting that it was found at 8 AM, only a hour or two after daylight. It makes me wonder if the vehicle wasn't moved there after the fact, sometime overnight just before it was found.

I get the gut feeling that this person is from the town and possibly in the trailer park itself, or the one next to it (to the left of it, according to the map). Where the vehicle was parked, presumably on the side of the trailer, it wouldn't be seen from the main road due to a line of trees separating the trailer park from the main road, Elizabethtown Road. This is a more wooded trailer park though, unlike the other one next to it which seems to have no trees/bushes whatsoever. Is there information anywhere as to where this SUV was found exactly, or just out in the woods somewhere? It is odd that it took three days to find it. Hopefully a driver of the vehicle knew the mileage on the SUV and they are able to determine how much it was driven before being dumped so there's more of a radius to check.

It makes sense that the perp would live near where the truck was parked. If he lived far away, he'd have to walk home (unless he called someone for a ride, in which case that person has knowledge!). If he lives nearby, he likely knows a back-way home though the woods. Is there a google image of the area in winter - any paths around there?

Leaving the vehicle near his home (if that's what he did) also indicates to me a young person - of the age when they don't think they will be caught, in denial that deceit will be detected. I'm thinking late teen/early 20 - which matches the person on the video, imo. An older perp, I would guess, would know better than to dump a stolen car near his own home?

Speculation only....wishful thinking that the clues add up to finding the perp....today.

The Lumberton Rosewood Mobile Park located at 3525 Elizabethtown Rd.

My question is how far from a road leading out from the mobile park is Hania's home?

I've been wondering how close is Hania's house to the entrance or exit out of the park?

Thank you so much in advance.

Google Maps

IMO, after doing some photo comparisons, the area in the trailer park from which she was taken may be this area, IMO (see red flag):

If this is the area from which she was taken, then this would be an approx. 2 min drive, and .2 mi in distance from that location to the intersection of Hornets Rd and Elizabethtown Rd.

All just my opinion and speculation based on crime scene photos.

ETA: Shortly after this post, I found a recently posted FB Live video by WRAL, during which the reporter points to the actual trailer. See post #172 for reference. From the above Twitter images, it looks to be the one on the left (the one with black shutters).

If he walked to the place where Hania was forced into the car, which it appears he did... then how did he exit the place where he abandoned the car?
-> Options:
a) he walked to somewhere very near that location (with her?)
b) he had a vehicle there already and just switched to that (with her?)
c) he had an accomplice waiting or pick him up there (with her?)
d) he stole another car / motorcycle and bailed (with her?) (doubtful with her on motorcycle).
e) a four wheeler already there or in the area and off he goes (with her?)
f) he jumped on his magic broomstick and vanished (sarcasm, frustrated with this!).

Look for the walk in any such video

Odd that the two trailers in the crime scene photographs were boarded up. I wonder how many of the homes there are dilapidated and/or not lived in.

A local has shared that the area was recently badly flooded with a lot of damage. I would guess that is the reason for the two boarded up trailers nearby. MOO.

True. Two years ago and this past hurricane season, Lumberton was hit extremely bad. The homes themselves look to be in pretty good condition though. Maybe the insides are terrible though. Who knows.

I think he walked away from the vehicle. Wherever he vanished to, he knew how to get there on foot.

Otherwise, this crime was really, truly planned with precise timing to nab her exactly when she started the car and he had a second vehicle ready in the hiding spot several miles away. Even with that tight of a plan, he would still be relying on no one being with Hania when she was in the yard and nobody stopping him as he drove. I just don't see a planned attack in this case. I think he jumped at the opportunity when it was presented, though it possible he had his eye on her.

I'm still curious where he walked FROM to get to Hania's place. It couldn't have been too far, unless he left well before dawn. It was just starting to get light.

jmopinion at the moment, subject to change
