I am curious to know if dogs were used to track the perpetrator’s scent backwards, that is, from Hania’s trailer back into the woods (behind the trailer), and perhaps onto a trail to see where he came from?
(That is one long sentence.)

Dear Mercedes,

I believe they would have done exactly as you have stated.

It is possible that DNA on an object (discarded cigarette?) has been found on the path/in the woods behind the home which will match the same found in the area of the P.O.I. (I am hoping so much that this is the case)!

It would provide critical information for the investigative team if the P.O.I. was using a cell phone because the Cell Site Location Information (cell tower dump) would include his cell number.

With this information, the investigative team could use a "stingray" (Cell Site Simulator - described in N.C. news article below) in police car to drive around different areas to see if there is a match in that area with a certain cell number.

I believe that either CSLI/ data technology or DNA (or both) will provide answers hopefully very soon.

Hania Aguilar: Abducted Teen Remains Missing as SUV Is Discovered in North Carolina Town Marred by Violence
CRIME
12:19 PM PST, November 8, 2018 - CAITLIN NOLAN

Hania is described as a happy girl who loves to cook and laugh. She hopes to one day become a Marine to help people, her mother said.

Hania’s abduction came one day after about 60 people gathered to honor their loved ones who were killed, found dead or went missing from Lumberton and Pembroke, neighboring communities within Robeson County.

“We are in this fight together as a whole county,” Shelia Price told InsideEdition.com.

Price’s daughter, Rhonda Jones, was one of three women who were found dead within a four-block radius between April 18 and June 3, 2017. The bodies of Jones, 36, and Kristin “Christina” Bennett, 32, were found dead 50 yards apart from each other on the same day, while Megan Oxendine, 28, was found about two city blocks away. Her death came several weeks after she had spoken on the news about Jones’ death. The circumstances behind their deaths remain unknown. (Emphasis added).

Mother Pleads for Abducted Teen's Return: 'I Miss Her'

Wow --The violence against women in and around Lumberton is frightening. May this young girl be found safe from harm.

Thread for the three women found deceased under suspicious circumstances: Found Deceased - NC - Megan Oxendine, 28, Christina Bennett, 32, and Rhonda Jones, 36, Lumberton, Apr/Jun 2017

I was out of the loop on this at the very beginning. Where was the explorer stolen from, was it stolen from the owner in Summerville or was it stolen in Lumberton and the owner's address is Summerville? tia

It belongs to a SC family member but the vehicle was at Hania's other aunt's home in Lumberton, NC during the crime. Hania lives in the same trailer park as her NC aunt. She went over to her aunt's house to have breakfast with her cousins and get a ride to school (or the bus stop-- some children are driven to the bus stop in this rural area according to locals). After breakfast, Hania took her aunts keys and went outside to start the car. She started it and was standing outside next to it waiting for her aunt and cousins to come out when the man came out of the woods and forced her into the running vehicle. Her family heard her screaming and looked out the window. A neighbor also looked out their window and saw it. The witnesses described the man as wearing all black with a yellow bandana on his face.

Thank you! I went back and reread the initial reports too. I was confused about the stolen SUV and your explanation makes sense and answers my questions. I think this is a local person or connected to someone local - not someone passing through. The location of where the SUV was abandoned makes me think that.

Who besides the 8 year old sister witnessed the abduction? Could be possible that HNA is still somewhere in the mobile home park, heaven forbid. Wish the video of the stolen car was more clear to see a description of the driver and passengers. The video of the POI shows it appears to be raining. Could the rain have destroyed any trackable scent of HNA at the MHP or where the stolen vehicle was found? Obviously the vehicle is going to have DNA and other evidence of HNA. As for when the stolen vehicle was found, as many LEO looking for the vehicle, hard to believe it was driving around Lumberton for 4 days unnoticed. Yet for that matter, hard to believe it took 4 days to locate only 10 minutes away.
Not feeling good about this one ending well. My mind keeps going to human trafficking, sadly.

A neighbor and her family members (aunt, cousins) also witnessed it. The 8 year old is the only one who speaks English, so news has probably not interviewed other witnesses for that reason. LE has translators though and has probably interviewed them. JMO.

Is there a Spanish-language TV station in the region?

After reading the latest posts, it dawned on me that Lumberton is a high crime city. It may be small, but the crime rate is extraordinarily high.

To back up this statement, I googled it only to discover Lumberton is listed as the number 1 city in North Carolina in crime. Top 10 most dangerous cities in North Carolina, according to the FBI

While gangs have not been mentioned as being involved in this case, Lumberton is saturated with gangs. This is from personal knowledge.

After reading the stolen Explorer was found four days later in Lumberton, this is scary as to what quality investigators are on this case. Lumberton is not a big city, just a small southern town.

I understand the confusion. The earliest press releases and Amber Alert did not give details about her starting the car nor where the car was stolen and they named the relative in SC who owned the car making it sound as if this could be a family abduction or a car stolen from SC. I think some people did not pay close attention after those first confusing reports, figuring this case would be solved quickly and she would show up with a relative. It was quickly clarified what happened but it can be confusing if you missed those details. I wish this were a family custody dispute thing. :(

ETA: I agree about thinking this is a local. Someone had to know that location to find it. JMO.

In a brief moment of levity during that news video,

I was under the impression that the rule is not to bring gangs into the comments on WS.

“I was under the impression that the rule is not to bring gangs into the comments on WS.”

There is no rule I’ve heard of that says one can not brainstorm on the possibility of our perp who is still at large possibly having past and present gang affiliations based on his MO of wearing a bandana, carjacking and operating in an area known for extremely high gang activity.

LE has said there is no indication at this time to indicate that this perp has any relationship to gangs so will leave it at that.

I think it depends on the thread. There are cases that are gang-related. We have threads about MS-13 murders and missing teens who were caught up in that gang. In those cases there is usually some info released saying the suspect the missing teen had gang ties. In this case they have said they have no reason to suspect a gang connection. LE have possibly acknowledged a gang presence in the area by making that statement. It's up to the mods to decide if we can discuss gangs in this thread.

Here are some threads about teens murdered or missing with a gang connection:
Recovered/Located - NY - Louis Germosen, 19, Long Island, 28 Jun 2018
MD - Damaris 'Alexandra' Reyes, 15, found murdered, Gaithersburg, 10 Dec 2016
IL - Darnelle Flowers, 17, & Raysuan Turner, 16, fatally shot, Chicago, 19 Aug 2018
Found Deceased - VA - Miguel Ruiz Carrillo, 18, Mount Vernon, 3 Aug 2017
NY - Lesandro Guzman-Feliz, 15, murdered by gang-caught on video, Bronx, 20 June 2018 *arrests*

In almost all the threads I'm finding the case is in a big city/very urban area and the missing teen themselves had a connection to the gang that made them either targets or made them go on the run because they participated in a murder. And it is almost always stated by family or the police that there are gang connections. I don't think anyone is suggesting Hania or her family had gang ties but I'm baffled by how much it has been discussed in this thread. JMO. I hope this is the last I post about it.

Yes, I haven’t read a single post of anyone speculating that Hania has gang ties. Not a single person has said that.

It's nice to have "new eyes" look at the case and share impressions. Sometimes when you follow a case closely from the start, you learn all the details but also can benefit from a fresh look.

So many of us are thinking "local" when it comes to this perp. I have hope he will be caught.

“In addition to Lumberton police and the FBI, personnel from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Bragg Military Police Investigations are trying to talk to everyone who lives in the Rosewood Mobile Home Park, Hania’s neighborhood, and Quincey Drive, the road where the stolen 2002-2003 Ford Expedition was found Thursday morning.“

Officials seek to talk to neighbors of Lumberton teen, who has been missing for a week

“Fort Bragg Military Police Investigations”—that’s interesting...thoughts? Are they just helping out?

(Jinx poke poke you owe me a coke :) )
The more help, the better, I say. MOO

There is a really clear shot of the SUV in this video where it looks like the driver's side window may be down and we can see inside. This is the first view I have seen of that side of the car while it was parked.

Personal observation. We live an hour and half away from Lumberton and my fiance' travels for his job. He avoids stopping in Lumberton (for lunch or fuel) because of the crime reports we see on the local news. They're often and scary. When I travel in that area I won't stop there either.

Second half of this video is about Hania. Note the forcefulness of the FBI man's words about 1:53:
