Looks like he was convicted in 2001 and 2002, when he was in his early twenties. So, I doubt it’s related to him being missing. This lists his race as black, but I’m pretty sure that’s not correct. I don’t know why it’s showing up in SC’s database but not NC’s.

I was only responding to the earlier comment that his photo may have looked like a mugshot. There is a little bit of history in NC as well, including failure to register in 2009 and 2002. Thanks. I couldn’t find that. So, in and out of prison. I keep writing and erasing my own social commentary, but I’m going to leave it with the thought that there are people out there who love this man and want to find him.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully the $500 will be enough to get someone talking to LE or to blackmail those involved, if anyone is responsible for his disappearance. It might be just enough to stir up some bees. Let's hope.

Authorities: Human remains 'likely' those of man missing since last year

The human remains found in a wooded area in Old Fort the morning of Oct. 13 are likely those of a man who went missing on Nov. 28, 2019, according to a release from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Friday, Oct. 15.

Joseph Mark Loftis, 40, who lived on Lavender Road, was reported missing on Thanksgiving Day last year.
