The digging has arms that reach many.

Those close to the victim are always investigated in an unsolved case.
Info uncovered about them in interviews and background checks would never be made public during an investigation, in any case. However, if their focus is on the sister, the SW's will likely have background details in the probable cause affidavit.....obviously sealed so she is not 'tipped' she is a person of interest.
Hopefully, the SW's and 911 call(s) will be unsealed when the 30 order expires 4-9-10.

Interesting facts in the seal order
1- Two 911 calls made
2- Two search warrants executed (house and the sister's car?)
3- "Release of these documents could expose hearsay evidence about the offense which may prejudice the public against anyone charged and arrested for the crime"

http://dig.abclocal.go.com/wtvd/docs/Taft_search_911_sealed.pdf

Hmmm, sounds like they are worried about statements made in the SW's about the sister. Obviously, 1 SW would be for the residence she was killed. The other is likely the car or residence of the sister.

Police were called only after Taft had been taken to WakeMed, where her surgeon examined her and realized she had been assaulted, sources said. Surgical bandages on her face likely concealed the wounds, they said.

Police have not yet said whether someone from the hospital or Taft's sister reported the assault following the surgeon's examination.

Ruben or JusttheFax, have either of you heard rumors who made that second 911 call?

I have not heard, but sounds like it was someone from Wake Med.
The 2nd call likely described her injury and that it appeared to be an assault.

I saw on Friday there was activity both inside and outside of the house. I believe the "CityCounty Bureau of Investigation" was there, and they were out there sweating in the heat. Personally, i didn't know the City and County had one investigative team. It is a case that will be solved, I feel. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would probably perch myself in a rocking chair on the porch and eat popcorn all day watching the house, sickie that I am. One thing I do know. People love to start and spread little rumors. If the city was in some kind of danger from a madman...the news would be out. Did anyone ever discover who the surgeon was? Was her procedure done at the office? Many cosmetic surgeons have facilities right at their offices now. I might go for a little nip tuck myself eventually. Oh, and I would not consider KT to be "elderly"! Not even close. LOL maybe because I am approaching her age, myself! She was active, vibrant, and yes, beautiful before all this...and apparently had a very happy life, from what we can see.

The cops and CCBI had Michelle Young's house under yellow tape for 12 days.
Look for the house to be released sometime very soon.

Based on time-lines from other area murders, look for the autopsy report to be released by the NCME Office around the end of May.

Yeah and still missed her tooth.

What is in the water in this state that we lose such beautiful and good people to murder??

I agree, but it seems like we've had more than our fair share.

If DH's car was at the grocery store with keys locked in it, and she needed to dispose of any items related to the murder, is it possible she used Kathy's car? Could the SW be for Kathy's car?

ETA
I don't know if LE would need to get a search warrant to search KT's or who would be able to give the okay. But I was just thinking that if DH's car was "out of commission" then she might have used Kathy's. Did DH call AAA/locksmith or is it just assumed she did eventually?

The locksmith is just speculation for a theory. My question is if it was planned, wouldn't DH have brought a spare car key with her?

Did anyone ever see that she really locked her keys in the car? Or was it proven that the "keys left in the car" were actually the keys to that car?

If the locking of the keys in the car was deliberate, I think she'd see it through and have a locksmith/AAA let her into the car afterwards.

It would be interesting to see security tape video the parking lot and determine whether her car was there all night. That thought might have occurred to her too, and she'd leave the car where it was.

It has been said by solid sources she locked the keys in the car (late afternoon) and walked back to the house.

Like I said before, locking keys in the car is very hard to do because the automatic locks have a safeguard. If true, this is very odd indeed.
Hard to say how it plays into the murder, especially if the cops think she was attacked between 11Pm and the wee hours of Saturday.

Would love to know what make/model car the sister drove.
Almost all cars make it impossible to leave your keys in the ignition and lock the door. Locking keys in the car is very fishy.

I thought it had to be a deliberate act also....a reason why she would have walked through the back lot of the shopping center (where the dumpsters are) to get back to the house. Just in case someone saw her back there... But yesterday, i actually did lock the keys in the car, with the motor running. (duh!) My chariot is:innocent: a 2002 chevy....LOL

I guess it depends on the year and make/model.
Both my cars won't allow you to engage the lock if the driver door is open and the key is in the ignition (on or off).

I guess disposing of a weapon in a dumpster would be a reason.
Wonder if/when she called a locksmith or AAA? She had ample time Friday evening, while Kathy was still up. If she waited till Saturday AM, maybe she had a sinister plan?

I live in a very small safe town. So usually when I pull in my driveway, knowing I will leave again, I pull my keys out enough to disengage the buzzer and to disable the "lock prevention." Luckily, if you accidentally hit the door lock, it makes a noise anyway, and you have three seconds to reopen the door. The day my sister did it, three seconds was not enough time for that noise to trigger anything. I grabbed the handle as it locked.

Women, notoriously lock their keys in the car. A bit fishy in her case though.

My car won't lock with the keys in the ignition but that hasn't prevented me from locking my keys in the car when I've put them on the seat to pick up something else.

So for now, I'll go with she really did lock the keys to that car in the car.

If it was a deliberate act, it would have given her a reason to walk the wooded path IF she went back to get the car. If she didn't get the car, there was no reason for her to be on that path other than walking from the store (with dinner) to the house just after locking her keys in the car.

Am I missing the obvious something?

Are Kathy and Dina the same height or would there have been a seat adjustment if Dina were driving Kathy's car? (Some people adjust the seat without thinking, and forget to change it back.)

By elederly, I just meant for a murder victim, especially for a random kind of murder, without a burglary...I don't think early 60's is old...sorry for my choice of words :(

LOL me too! a dear friend once told me when we were kids, "If you have your health, you have everything!" Age seems irrelevant after 50....it becomes another thing to be thankful for.
