Yes, that has some impact with me. I still find the 9:30 time odd. But that's just me. I base this on my experiences of when I had surgery and had a care taker and on when others have had surgery and I was their caretaker. In both cases the patient was not left unattended for more than a few hours between late night and early morning. We both were up early (at least 7:00 a.m.) to take meds which were needed by that time, ice was needed from swelling, patient is thirsty, etc. Waiting until 9:30 to actually check on the patient is just odd to me.

To hear something in the night, but not actually go and physcially see if the patient is okay is odd to me. If it's enough to get you out of the bed and down the stairs, but not enough to actually check on the patient, it seems odd. That is the whole point of having a caretaker for 24 hours after surgery. To stand near the door and assume you hear noises that you think indicates the person is okay, seems strange, IMO. But, that's just me. Perhaps other people do things differently.

I just intend to keep my mind open. I'm sure there is a logical explanation for all of the things that seem odd. LE may have already figured them out.

Do we know what time she heard the noise? As I understand it the master bedroom and the living room were on the same level. DH didn't go upstairs until 3 am. So, when she heard the noise she may have actually been sitting right outside (or not far away) from the master bedroom. She went to the bedroom door and listened, heard snoring, and shrugged it off. If that's what she did I'm sure she regrets it now.

But, how could someone get in the house and into KT's room without seeing D? A window? A back door? Or, were they hiding in the house for some time...waiting?

Of course, maybe it all happened after 3 pm. DH heard the noise but, again, may have shrugged it off.

I don't know...I'm willing to move on to another theory/suspect but...

diphi, no confirmation on time.
This is another quote from the close family friend...

"Dina supposedly heard something during the night and came downstairs. Kathy was sleeping downstairs. She didn't see anything and listened in on Kathy and heard snoring. Now they are wondering if it was moaning."

Since she came downstairs can we infer the attack happened after 3 am? Whatever noise she heard could have been from the actual attack or from KT trying to save herself somehow afterwards...

Close family friend: "The house has been vacant for a while. John's been in Florida for some time. There was even talk that maybe someone was sneaking in and using the house"

Papa bear said: "whose been sleeping in my bed" ?

JTF- I had briefly heard something of that nature too- but only a theory or rumor...that maybe there was a "squatter" in the house.

.
I assume maybe she heard the perptrator leaving?...yes sometime after 3am, after she retired.

When she "listened in", I assume that was opening the BR door.

Yes susubaby, my source had 'just heard it' too...rumor I guess.
Hard to imagine someone actually 'using' the house for a period of time in that area. Lights on would be too obvious

Any surgery requiring anesthsia is major surgery and after-care would be the same...stay close to watch for any fever, signs of infection, etc...I would have expected the person to sleep in the same room, if it was me. Or to put the patient on a sofa where the caretaker has access to kitchen for tea, etc...and also stay near to help if she needs to get up. But apparently their relationship was unconventional.

Was it ever stated by LE why there was a lid on what had happened or not happened earlier in the evening with the video and dinner? It seems there was a statement that Le could/would not discuss that part of the evening, which I found odd to say the least. Just something that stuck in my mind, does anyone else recall that?

Perhaps. If an intruder left at or after 3:00 a.m., then they locked the door behind him. D said door was locked.

Was he an honest but violent squatter? One that was just staying there out of necessity? If so, wouldn't he have benefitted from taking valuables with him, especially cash and a computer? If the plastic bag corners were his, then wouldn't he like more cash for drugs? Wonder if there are prints on them.

Does anyone remember a poster on thread #1 that said KT had been sexually assaulted with something like scissors, or had been cut in the vaginal area in some way? Do you remember? Now I am wondering if that person had some valuable info.

I think the post was deleted by admins. as being a really bad rumor (my words). I searched for it and couldn't find it.

I really can't remember the details of the post, but I can't help but think about it.

cluciano63, LE never made such a statement...that was the N&O from sources.

I would guess KT bedded down after the movie....+/- 9PM?
Was D bored?
Did she go back to the HT for beer? (2nd receipt)
Up till 3am is a bit odd....just say'n

I don't know, except that I guess they want to keep as much info secret to protect the investigation. I trust their judgment....I think.

I posted much further upthread about KT staying in the master bedroom. For someone with facial cosmetic surgery that seems VERY odd. Once again, I base this on my experience and friends that I have. Staying on the couch, makes the most sense. You are able to elevate yourself easier and it's closer to your supplies, fridge, freezer, etc. You are supposed to sleep elevated for weeks. I found it very difficult to do in bed, because your natural instinct is to get out of the elevated position. On the sofa it's easier to maintain, but that's just me.

What are your ideas about why D told the 911 dispatcher that there was a black Durango parked outside the house on Cartier Drive when, according to all other reports, apparently the car was actually in the Harris-Teeter parking lot.

Do you think, because her usual MO would have been to park the car in front of the house where she lived/was staying, she just forgot that her routine was different that Friday night. Could have been due to her nervousness at discovering her sister, I suppose....

TIA for your thoughts re: this matter.

  • #254
Yes, that is what i was thinking about the couch...just to be in a central area of the home...
But not sure that would have made a difference if her sister did go out and it happened while she was out...which we do not know at this point...

How bout KT's position in bed?
911 said to turn her over on her back....D complied.
So the rapist rolled her back on her stomach or side after he had his jollies?

Just how long had JG been gone? Seems like I heard he was helping his mother get established in an assisted living community (or something like that). I wonder why people thought someone was using the house. Did they see something? Lights? Trash? People?:waitasec:

Somethings that are bugging me from the 911 call by the sister....

1) The sister says "she had surgery in her neck and in her um....." and then she changes it back to just her neck. Was this confusion or was she referring to something else?

2) Then she goes on to say, "there is blood everywhere, everywhere, on her face". If your sister had surgery on her neck and you found her with blood everywhere on her face, would that not freak you out? Yet she still seems calm at that point.

3) Then she goes on to say her eyes are black and her eyelids are blue. That to me sounds like someone has blacked her eyes. Again if your sister had neck surgery and then you walk in and find her with black eyes and blood on her face, would your reaction be so calm?

4) "She's on her back and her eyes are watering a little bit." I don't even know this woman and that immediately makes me think she was crying..crying out in pain or for help with her tears. How did the sister stay so calm with that right in front of her?

5) Then the 911 operator asks her if she's breathing normally and the sister sighs and says "i guess best she can with what's she's got going on". That just sounds so non chalant.

The sister may be 100% innocent but these things strike me as odd. Especially b/c this is not some hired nurse, this is her sister.

I had posted JG's mother was in a nursing home in Fla and he was spending time there. As far as the 'squatter', I think that was just speculation only w/ nothing concrete.
