Good morning all! Looks like "Raleigh Rick Santorum" has entered the courtroom, so we are now getting started...
(No offense to RS intended--is the DT intending to conjure up hearth and home with the sweater vests, do we think?)
I am still having trouble believing this was JW's first rape/ murder.
I woke up this morning with the thought that if he'd canvassed the house before (during "dog walks") and even maybe broke in before, that maybe he knew that the white car was KT's and would also know that JG's car was NOT there. I cannot see the car pad in the pictures on MLS but wouldn't he have had to walk right past it to get to the back where the doors were? This is assuming the part about him checking the mailbox is true and assuming he didn't get to the house from the back path instead and also assuming he's lying when he says he didn't see the car?
Also, I know the defense needs to have it be that JW hit her before raping her b/c if he raped her first, he had time to consider his next move and that would be premed. I really hope she was knocked out before the rape. I have met KT in the past and while all these trials get to me personally, this one does even more so.
I was wondering the same thing! The catatonia is, I think, a courtroom demeanor choice, and his way of mentally escaping. His mother said they send him a LOT of reading material. If he was catatonic outside of the courtroom he would not be going through lots of reading material. If he was heavily medicated he'd be falling asleep and stay asleep.
Totally agree. If he was heavily medicated he'd look far more 'out of it'. And as Maddy said, if he was severely ill in any way or heavily medicated, he wouldn't have been able to concentrate enough to read.
Who did I miss?
Agreed. I think he's "checking out"--emotionally detaching--a technique I mastered as an only child growing up in alcoholic home. Perhaps JW did, too?
What did I miss this morning?
Exactly NCB. I've never met anyone who admitted to being able to detach before. ( hugs ). Thank you for saying it. I used to be able to detach quite effectively, since going through extensive therapy I've lost the ability.
