The question I have is was this a justifiable shooting. No one has presented facts, so far. What caused LE to focus on Scott? Did they ever serve their warrant on the person they were supposedly looking for? Having a gun and "brandishing" a weapon are two entirely different things. So far, this is fishy. Waiting for actual facts. JMO

Did they ask him any questions before they pulled their weapons?

And what if his disability somehow affects his gait or stance? If he stumbled trying to steady himself or lurched a bit the officers might have viewed that as threatening.

CNN and MSNBC are both covering this video extensively. Scott family attorney on CNN now.

That is so sad. I wonder if it would have helped had Keith's wife said "he's head-injured" rather than "he has a TBI". It might be hard to process what a TBI is in the heat of the moment.

But hearing a head injury, the cops might have thought that's why he wasn't exiting the car - because he couldn't understand and follow directions.

I don't believe, though, that his wife didn't know he had a gun. Why else would she keep saying "Keith, don't do it. Don't do it". Don't do what, exactly?

Oh, man that video is gut wrenching. I'm a little behind on what's going on in Charlotte, I've been so wrapped up in what's been going on in Tulsa. I cannot imagine helplessly watching my husband being killed.

It was hard to watch, hard to hear. I think it's standard procedure to distance a gun from the patient while trying to administer medical help but I'm not sure.

My heartis racing. Does not answer any questions, but it certainly is traumatic.

The only good thing about the release, is if the cop does not deserve to be arrested, they will have to release it.

If they chose not to release it, IMO, means there is no proof he had a gun .

what a mess.............

The video does nothing IMO

She certainly sounds authentic.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a nondegenerative, noncongenital insult to the brain from an external mechanical force, possibly leading to permanent or temporary impairment of cognitive, physical, and psychosocial functions, with an associated diminished or altered state of consciousness.

I hope cops video is more informative . If not we are in quite a quagmire are we not??

Police have said a gun was recovered from the scene, and there is a still pic at several web sites that purports to show a small semi-auto handgun on the ground near KS. What will be interesting is the forensic report on the gun, which will take several weeks. Along with potential fingerprints and DNA on the outside of the gun, there will also be potential fingerprints and DNA on the INSIDE of the gun, on the magazine, as well as on the ammunition inside the magazine. Very few people load a gun while wearing gloves.

The serial number, if it hasn't been removed, will also reveal who it was sold to, and if it was ever reported stolen.

There is going to be evidence on that gun, and IMO, it will implicate KS as the "handler" of the gun. Remember, KS is a multiply- convicted felon, with a history of violence and gun crimes. He was not allowed by law to own a gun, or have one in his car, or home, even if the gun was purchased by someone else legally.

The wife was much too far away to know what KS had, or did not have, in his hands. The video makes that clear to me. So the wife saying he did not have a weapon or a gun doesn't persuade me at all that he didn't. The escalating tone of the police commands to "drop the gun" are far more persuasive, IMO.

Police told him at the beginning of the video to show his hands, and then abruptly changed to "drop the gun", at least 12-13 times before the sound of gunfire. They never asked him again to show his hands, because they could now SEE his hands, and what he was holding-- and gave repeated commands to "drop the gun", not "show". That is a HUGE distinction. And that is how police are trained-- orders to "show", are followed by order to "drop" once they see. And there were several officers present.

IMO, this video clearly supports the police version of what happened. It's too bad he chose not to cooperate, and threatened officers with a gun. That is a pervasive theme in these kind of high profile shootings. Not complying with officer's lawful commands to "drop the gun" is a direct threat to their lives.

IMO, this will be ruled a justified shooting-- it will just take months for that to happen.
