Dr. Ruth Allen, Battle’s grandmother, said they hadn’t seen or heard from Battle in two weeks.

On Saturday around midnight, the day investigators say Battle killed her daughters, Allen told CBS 17 her boyfriend called them, looking for her.

“He was asking us where she was at, have we seen her? Was she here?” explained Allen. “I told her, no we haven’t seen her. He said, ‘I don’t know. Something ain’t right.'”

“Amora was under my care for two years. Social services gave her to me,” explained Allen.

Allen did not want to go into more detail, but instead shared sweet memories of the sisters who moved to Cary in December with their mother. 'Something ain't right': Family of Cary mother accused of killing daughters hadn't heard from her in weeks

The children were identified as Amora Milbourne, 3, and Trinity Milbourne, 2, of Cary, North Carolina. It is still unclear the location of the children's deaths.

Cary police told Newsweek they have not received any criminal complaints or reports of child abuse or neglect involving Battle.
Mom accused of murdering two kids left in hot car: "Careless mistake"

So mom gets her youngest daughters back from a relative caretaker in December 2021. Not surprised that CPS and LE have had no complaints. It's only been since December that she's had them. Both girls were just returned to her care at that point. Older son is already in custody of his father. This will likely get ugly.

One of the linked articles above talks of her losing custody of the girls over missing their dr. appointments. That doesn't sound like we are getting all the information. That seems extreme for a couple of missed Dr. appointments. Unless her child(ren) had some sort of medical condition that required close monitoring. Methinks there is probably more to this loss of custody. I will also be interested in learning about what she was required to do to get the girls back into her care. Was there a care plan? Supervision?
