I think it has been postponed until sometime in March because someone forgot to send out the jury summons!

That case has been going on forever. IIRC, the first trial was a mistrial, just barely and he turned down a plea offer.
I am going to try and watch that one from start to finish, since it looks like the Arias trial is going to be postponed again.:banghead:

It only took the jury 1 hour in Grant's case to return a verdict. It'll be interesting to see how long this jury deliberates.

Charlene is handling the retrial again, right? She's awfully good.

I generally only follow a few local cases and usually only the big ones in Wake County. I don't know the ADAs in Durham County. I watched Aboroa during the closing arguments and I thought the female (Charlene?) did a great job with that.

I'm back and saw the judge giving jury instructions. I am forcing myself to listen to Gaskins' closing. Painful.

I read every post and am so looking forward to Boz and Becky!

I hope the verdict comes in before I get to jury instructions...

Does anyone know how we will know when a verdict has been reached? I have HLN on and they don't have a countdown so I'm assuming they aren't covering it? Thanks

1 hour??? OMG, there was no doubt whatsoever!
That has to be close to a record!

90 minutes for Grant. I think it will take hours longer for Amanda, after all there are quite a few more charges to consider and I could see where a jury could get mired in the details between them. I hope they don't, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did struggle between M1 and M2.

Thank you!! I missed his trial
And, one last question!
How long was the Jury out in Grant's trial?
TIA.
About 90 minutes. They were excused on a Friday afternoon, so no deliberation in Grant's trial until the following Monday. 90 minutes approximately.

RT @courtchatter When Judge Stephens was reading jury instructions, some of the jurors were nodding as in "yes" #AmandaHayes

Live stream from WRAL is still up, but shows we are in deliberations. It will go back to the courtroom when we have a verdict.

:sigh: Those poor kids. The boys lost their mom, because their father and step mother killed her. It was horrible and now infamous. Their father and step mother are battling it out against each other in court and in the media - for their own best interests. This puts the little girl's parents at odds. So, as they grow up the boys will know that their sister's mother helped kill their mother. This is not to mention that the town know all the gruesome details of the murder and the aftermath. People in that town who know/knew GH, AH and LA will all have some opinion. And if I remember right, GH's father is a preacher - so you have a church full of people who think what they will about this stuff that happened, and also will think about their preacher and his wife who raised a murderer and are now raising the murderer's children. Then you have Sha who moved across the country to be away from all of this - which also separates her from her own sister. What a path these two people have set these children upon. I feel so bad for them all and all the others whose lives have been altered due to their selfishness.

Beautifully said, jmt. This one is a real heart-breaker. How will the elder Grants explain all that to these trusting children?

FYI, the National Enquirer has picked up this story...

Finally, Grant Hayes III & Co. finally made the Big Time.

Thanks for the interesting tidbit, Mad. I just have to chuckle.

I agree they will take longer in this case... with Grant, they had him on video buying the very things used to dismember and transport Laura, that was pretty damning. Then there were his songs/lyrics, etc. His case was pretty open and shut. This one is going to take more time. God bless those jurors... I pray they make the right decision and send this monster to prison for life. :please:

I have a friend inside the courtroom in #AmandaHayes. I will tweet out any info as soon as something happens.

Perfectly stated. What a sad state of affairs for all involved. The reality of this gruesome crime is sickening. If we are effected and emotionally involved, I just can't imagine those sweet little kids knowing all of this someday.

You're so right, MissSally. And the only parent who loved them the way they should be loved is dead.
