WHY would they be stuck on this?? What does it matter? She was murdered! Confused. :dunno:

Maybe it goes to premeditation. I believe the handwriting expert, from the State, said that it was Laura's handwriting. Was LA under duress to write this note? Does it flow like other known examples of her handwriting? same sort of terms and language used?

Did someone have a knife to her throat while the other told her what to write?

Once she wrote that note Laura was killed.

Ok, well if they look at all of this and come to the IMO, correct, conclusion, then that's fine they can look all they want. It's the other conclusion I'm afraid of............

Why would they focus on Laura's state of mind? Can someone please share their opinion of this request?

In closing arguments, Boz pointed out that there's something fishy about the letter. He said that there's no way that Laura would suddenly give up the fight and accept $25k in exchange for Grant having sole custody of the children. He said that the letter relating to this was deliberately left at the apartment (everything else related to the alleged accident was thrown away) because it was supposed to be proof that Laura accepted the money and then she simply took off. That is, when Laura was reported missing and the last known place that she visited was Grant's apartment, Laura and Grant intended to produce the letter and claim that they didn't know anything about Laura's whereabouts.

The first half of the letter is written in Grant's handwriting. The last half of the letter is in a different handwriting, but there's doubt that it is Laura's handwriting. The suggestion is that the last half of the letter was forged by Amanda to appear like Laura's handwriting. Boz suggested that Laura was under duress when she signed the letter. If Grant and Amanda wrote the letter prior to the murder and then forced Laura to sign the letter, it is proof of premeditation and participation by Amanda in the murder.

I hope her baby voice and baby-pink blouse didn't get someone to sympathize with her......

Don't be afraid.........

Watch the next question will be: can we re-watch all of Amanda's testimony?

I could be wrong but to compare handwriting versus bogus etc. would more or less be investigating?. I thought that was not allowed . Also they had a handwriting expert testify .( iirc)

Yes, you're right.

I don't know who did the camera work on Arias but I really enjoyed the various shots of testimony and evidence being shown. I thought that person was quick. Sorry about the slowpoke crack. I am anxious that Amanda gets her just deserts ( I love Hot Fuzz), same as her hubby.

True, but in the charge to the jury, the judge said that they can weigh the testimony of experts themselves - no requirement that they accept it. If the letter was produced as evidence and the diary was produced as evidence, they can weigh the evidence.

Good morning Otto,
A little a-kissing, if I may.
I always appreciate your insightful, to-the-point posts and nearly always agree with you. Glad you are here.

Ok, I have calmed down from my brief overreaction :scared: to the jury asking for the letter and journals. Thanks for the replies. ;)

Surprised nobody has asked if they can watch The Talented Mr. Ripley yet

Sorry but is he the slowpoke who would leave the camera on say Boz during closing and while BOZ was showing and changing slides for the court/jury we were stuck with watching Boz talk about whatever was on the screen?

I thought whoever did Arias did pretty good, though some gruesome stuff was released to the public I don't know if it was the camera person's fault.

Our Juan-der-ful was too quick for the camera guy!!! All it would take would be for camera guy to be 5 ft away from the camera and ka-blam! the pic is on the screen. It happens. I saw it once during another Wake Co. trial - a pic of the face of the deceased victim was shown just as LE found him -- after a couple of days. Very quick. -- That's live "TV" (sts) for ya. The price that's paid. -- It was edited out for the archive. But it was ba-a-a-a-ad.

It seems to me that they're weighing the evidence for a first degree murder conviction.

Gotcha. I do remember that now. Trying not to over analyze but darn it that 's hard.

OT: I love Ed Crump from WTVD. He does a good job and actually spends time in the courtroom.
