NC - Lennon Lacy, 17, football player found hanged, Aug 2014

Thanks for the update. Although its sad to see no resolution.

If those shoes really were not his then someone else had to be involved IMO. I have to wonder about any boyfriends of the female friend he had.

It could have even been a very well thought out plan. Like maybe more than 1 person went to visit that lady across the street. The person that she met may have been just to keep her occupied and provide an alibi for said person while another person may have been the one to confront the boy.

I wonder if the sneaker swapping was done just to throw off investigators into thinking someone killed him for his shoes.

Too many things about this case don't seem like it was a suicide. The boy had a game the next day. He would not switch out his shoes before he killed himself. I just don't buy it.

I hope the case can be reopened at some point.

We need a show like John Walsh to do a story on this case.

Here is another thing that makes me think no suicide. They said there was nothing under his feet where he was found hanging and so even if he crawled up on the swing set and jumped off the top then what would happen is the rope would stretch and there would have been severe neck wounds where the rope slid into position and up under the chin area.

So I would like to know more details about what type of rope was used and whether or not there were wounds on his neck where the rope slid up as his weight forced onto it. .The rope could have even broke if he jumped off the top so tests could have been done with that amount of weight being hurled off the top.

I also didn't read about his lungs. Did the ME check to be sure he died of ashphyxiation? Certain things happen when someone is chocked to death. The reports seemed real weak in details about that. Its almost like they just assumed he was hanged but maybe that is not how he died. He could have been placed there after his death.

In fact if someone had killed him and then tried to make it look like he was hung then he would end up exactly like he was because it is very difficult to lift a body up like that. Since his feet were just 2 inches from the ground it sounds like someone could barely get him off the ground and hoisted him up just far enough to make it look like a hanging.

Another thing is if he had planned suicide and wanted to jump off the top of the swing then surely he would not have had the length of the rope barely enough to keep his feet 2 inches off the ground. The odds of that happening are way too slim.

Everything I have read about this case has me thinking homicide.

I can understand LE not being able to find a killer but what bugs me the most is declaring it a suicide when there are other options that could have happened.

Hope someday the family gets some answers.

So sad that his family will never get answers for this senseless murder. (This is local for me.)

^sbm^ Agree - sad to see no resolution, at least not yet. From wwaytv3 link:

"The US Attorney’s Office announced today there is no evidence to pursue federal criminal civil rights charges in the death of Lennon Lacy." bbm From ^ stmt, seems imo nothing precludes local LE from continuing investigation for 'regular' criminal charges in his death.

"After a review of the evidence, the Justice Department said it found no evidence to suggest that Lacy’s death was a homicide." bbm I wonder if DoJ concluded his death was accidental, not necessarily suicide. IDK.

The current story I've seen is the wwaytv3 link. Anyone else see other stories?
JM2cts.

Dangit ! I don't know how Lennon died. I do wish there was a better , more thorough review of what happened. I have no confidence in the suicide theory.

I thought the Feds said it wasn't a homicide. Although I thought it was most likely a homicide, I'm confident the Feds would have found evidence if there was any.

The way I understood it is that the Feds are saying it wasn't a lynching, therefore no civil rights were violated. They didn't specifically say it wasn't a homicide.
