With fires burning in their yard for so long, there may be little evidence left. I am so sad. Around the holidays too! Just horrifying
I'm from CA and I can't imaging a fire burning for days and no one reporting it. I know NC isn't dry like CA but as a neighbor I would have felt uneasy with a fire burning that long! All I can think of is something like a funeral pyre.

After reading your post, I went to check the police blotter to see if anyone did report it, especially if it was noxious and not leaves, bbq, brush, etc. But I can’t find the blotter for after Thanksgiving.

Would they ever put someone in jail under bond, if there is also an intent trying to keep her under surveillance or keep her safe?
Just trying to think outside the box a bit.
A couple other things of note from her linked in (posted above):
  • Current employment is Mary Kay consultant, not a job where you would have set hours and people you see on a schedule as far as I know. Unclear if that is still her job, or if it was just never updated after that was included.
  • Looks like she moved to the US in December 2015 or January 2016, based on job changes
  • She never changed her location in her profile to the US even though the job was updated at some point.

so often when people are working these home-based selling companies... they just don't update or delete the info... so could be just way back around 2016.

I’m a bit behind on this story but I agree with what a lot of folks have said. The parents did not report her missing to the school resource officer, they admitted to him they didn’t know where she was when he showed up putting more pressure on why their child hadn’t been in school. After so many days they ran out of excuses.
This is not going to end well.

Very sad.
Everything I never wanted to know about burning remains I learned on WS, so not an expert, but it seems like that would have to be a really hot fire. I hope they do find something. If the parents did something to her, it’s certainly worthy of a charge besides “failure to report missing child,” though I am impressed that NC has made this a felony.
Agreed.

Graphic :

The fire has to be insanely hot !
From reading other cases, I think it has to be in the thousands of degrees ?

So, hopefully if she was burned there are remains left ?
I'll have to read and catch up, but I'd imagine by now they've brought trained HRD dogs ?
My first thought was that the stepdad was abusing Madalina ?
But maybe she was just annoying to him ?
As simple as that ?

Or, her mom thought he was going to leave her b/c of her child ?
So the mom did something ?
Anything to keep her man ?
I've followed some cases where it astounds me that any mom can stand idly by .... as a bio dad, boyfriend, stepdad, or whomever will hurt the children or worse and the mom chooses to look away so as to not lose the man in her life ?
Ugh.
Imo.

RSBM

Where, indeed? Surely if any remains had been found in or at the house, we’d be hearing about an ME or coroner arriving by now, or neighbors reporting a foul odor. MOO
Agreed !

Graphic :

Could they have discarded Madalina's (possibly burnt :( ) remains elsewhere ?
But one would think a dog could pick up the scent of remains, even burnt ones ?
Sorry to have to type that.
M00.

I don’t think it is in front of their house because theirs is on a corner lot. I think their house is the third one down in that view. It looks to me more like the type of trailer landscaping companies use for equipment vs a boat trailer but I am no expert in trailers.
This is a general trailer, they sell them at Home Depot. They are very popular up where I live because most people have to take their own garbage to the dump (and if you have a garbage pickup service, you still have to take heavy or big things to the dump). People use them for firewood, buying appliances, etc. Anything you'd want to put in your car but it might not fit.

Appears to be a private back yard. Surrounded by very tall trees on corner lot, and possibly to left side back yard as well.

It can be quite strange if you don't know what you're looking at. Catawba Avenue is very busy, even late at night. Indeed, it is a main artery for folks getting to and from their homes all hours of the day/night. Saeed's, for example, is (or at least used to be) a popular after-party socializing/drinking hole for a lot of young adults post-2AM.

My opinion.

I see what you are saying. The entry to Victoria Bay is Lake Village Bld., directly from Catawba. The residence is located on corner of Lake Village and Victoria Bay Drive where there could be a fair amount of residents' traffic. Drivers would likely smell or observe smoke from fires burning in parents' back yard.

While it certainly looks like this case has parental involvement and the outcome dire, there are other possibilities considering where the home is located. I could see a potential online bait/lure scenario as well, or even runaway if home life wasn't so good.

But again, looking more family-related at the moment.

In perusing his FB page, I do not see any pics of children.
Military, strong mythological male statues/art, oceans, bible verses, patriotism present.

According to Court Dates | North Carolina Judicial Branch CP will be arraigned tomorrow morning. Assuming DC will be tomorrow or Tuesday, though I didn’t see her info. If there are new charges, we may hear about them at the arraignments.

If there was another scenario, wouldn't parents most likely have reported her missing immediately?

That's the conundrum, idn't it? I'm certain that's why LE is focused on the parents. I suppose there could be other reasons not yet known as to why the parents waited, but they would have to be really compelling (and evident)!

I cannot come up with a single scenario where the parent/step-parent would not immediately report their 11 year old child missing. I could however, probably put together a pretty long list of parents who did NOT report their child missing, because they were the ones who disappeared that child. I have zero doubt LE are looking at these parents the same way we all are.

From wnk’s earlier post here:
NC - NC - Madalina Cojocari, 11, parents reported missing Dec 15, last seen at home, Cornelius, 23 Nov 2022
Su NOV 27 - DAY 4
[PM] According to neighbors, there were fires burning in the yard at the residence "at all hours" beginning on this day [5@2:22]

S DEC 17 - SDadCP & MomDC ARRESTED - DAY 24
12:29AM [6] - SDadCP arrested for failure to report disappearance of child, held on $100k bond [2]
[AM] According to neighbors, there were fires burning in the yard at residence up to this time [5@2:22]
10:12AM - MomDC arrested for failure to report disappearance of child, held on $100k bond [7]

Neighbors saw lengthy outdoor burning but didn't report it? What a pity.
Sometimes evidence is burned. I'm doubting it's what some are speculating, though, (although that has happened before.)
JMO.

I hope LE is able to access enough electronic forensics to piece together this darling girl's current whereabouts.

Well that sounds very ominous to me considering nobody reported her missing for 3 weeks.

Many folks burn leaves in this general area. It stinks to high heaven and I wish they would stop, but not uncommon if ground is wet (which is has been).
