BODY OF 6-YEAR-OLD MADDOX RITCH HAS BEEN FOUND. SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE DETAIL

Charlotte Fire is assisting the Gastonia Police Department with the search for 6-year-old Maddox Ritch at Rankin Lake Park in Gastonia.

Maddox was reported missing around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. He is autistic and non-verbal.

Ritch was last seen wearing an orange shirt with the writing "I'm the man" on the front.

Police received a call for help about an hour later, and multiple agencies are assisting, including the Charlotte Fire Department, Observer news partner WBTV reported.

A lady stopped by the road block near Rankin Lake Park to drop off this bear which also has a prayer cloth on it. She was hoping #MaddoxRitch would be found alive. She found out when she got here he had not.

I've heard of children being found up to two miles away, but four miles! I don't think the child could walk that far in my opinion.

Such a sad story, and I'm apprehensive about the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say. 4 miles is a long way.

I don’t know much about forensics, but will the autopsy show time of death? Even just approximately. It turns my stomach to think he was out there alone and scared for days.
