THE LATEST: Several devices are in the yard around Mariah Woods' home today. They appear to be some sort of scanners taking photos of the scene.

That they did not go to Kentucky. How do we know that for sure? I realize that off limits sources show that boyfriend may not have, but I have not seen any source at all showing where mom and kids were.

We don't know for sure. Mom had posted that she missed her Kentucky family. It's possible that the boys were with the bf on thanksgiving day.

Those look like the mapping devices we use when surveying an archaeological site. It's a preliminary step to setting up for a dig.

We don't know if they rode a bus though. I lived within three miles of the school and rode the bus. I had to catch it on the way down and ride nearly the whole route. Thankfully I was on the 2nd route in the a.m. and 1st route in the p.m. (late bus in the morning and early in the afternoon). It usually took a good :45 minutes to ride our route. My kids rode the first route and had to get on at around 6:30 (iirc) and we were less than three miles from the school, just outside of town. Kids in rural areas have early mornings and a long ride sometimes.

True, but it at least provides an idea of a time....(Do schools start at 745? 830? etc for example) the earliest anyone can enter is 7:45am. Even if the bus ride is long, I doubt it's 1 hr 15 mins. Didn't it say the mom noticed around 6:30 that Mariah was gone, 911 call around 6:45?

Wonder if they are going to dig? Doesn't seem to be any mention of noticeable ground disturbances (and the media have been close enough to see).

Perhaps setting up to go under the trailer again?

I was hoping they found Mariah when I woke up this morning. Where are you Mariah?? You need to help bake cookies and watch Frosty the Snowman on tv while eating a candy cane.

I wondered about that. Thanks.

Wondering the same thing. Do you think she's been missing much longer than first reported?

Septic tank?

Exactly and if they don't want to put themselves on display for the voyeuristic masses then who are we to question that. They will talk when they want too.

Hmmm. Moms with that attitude would be doing their missing child quite a disservice, rejecting the medium that would get their message out to hundreds of thousands of people.

That's what I was wondering too. Do they have well water or county water? Septic tank or public septic system? Anyone see well or septic tank on property?

Yea, I was actually going to do an ETA to my comment about that. The ground is undisturbed, so they won't be digging there. Just going on experience it appears that what they are doing is laying out a survey grid to either bring in laser mapping equipment so they can recreate the relative ground layout or so they can draw a scale hand-map. I don't think they are going to search under the trailer because a survey layout that far from the trailer base would be kind of pointless. When you are creating a survey grid for a subterranean ground search the first step is to chose a permanent marker of some sort from which to start your grid, something that will be permanent so that if either you or another person needs to return to the spot they can find your initial survey monument and redraw the grid you made. When you pick a monument it should be the nearest permanent object to your dig site. If they were going to dig under the trailer they would use some thing closer.

Well of course it matters! It’s part of a timeline and would be essential in pointing the investigation into different areas!

It matters, yes, but what I think OP was saying, is it matters not to the media. They will post conflicting information in a race to be first to print said information. They can update the story, at the bottom of the page, with an edit date, when the actual, hard, cold, facts are known (hardly anyone will read those updates though).

I've seen the mother on tv appealing for Mariah's return. Has the boyfriend made any appeal? Also I'm wondering if poly's have been given to mom and boyfriend, dad and girlfriend? TIA
