You didn't miss much.

Turn out for the volunteer searched was huge but nothing important was found.

LE has searched a landfill today.

That was all basically.

I think they did *not* repeat the call for people who saw the family on Sunday to come forward. (Is this correct?)

I know what you mean. I am from a large city but lived in a rural town in Southern Oregon for 5 years. We actually learned from locals that some people would bring their cars/trucks to the area and push them over the mountain for insurance fraud claims. I saw the “graveyard” of cars myself on a few occasions. Super creepy.

(O/T, an example, Tim Miller/Texas Equusearch:

What lies beneath: 127 cars in the bayous
http://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/gray-matters/article/127-cars-in-the-bayous-6573111.php

EQUUSEARCH FIRST began searching*for missing persons on horseback in 2000. Since then, the group has located the bodies of 199 missing persons, using not just horses, but also cars, trucks, ATVs, drones, planes and helicopters — whatever it takes to get the job done.

Sometimes, that's boats. Last spring, Equusearch founder Tim Miller took City Councilman Michael Kubosh out in the group's 24-foot aluminum scully boat, to show him the dumped cars, and with his boat's motor, they hit something he hadn't seen. It was a car — but it wasn't just one car. The sonar showed one vehicle stacked on top of another, both under the water's surface."

Then there's the couple who went missing years ago, still not found, saw their story on dateline, want to find their thread, same deal, cars found in waterways are insurance scams. )

any news if they stopped the search with the sonar at the bridge?

Oh and there was an article quoting neighbors saying that the bf had previously smashed the family car's windows with a baseball bat in a fit of rage because he was out of cigarettes. Curiously the article was quickly edited and the part about the bf was gone. Some members are still trying to find a cached version.

Did you try the page bsarlo suggested above?

In an effort to make webpages load faster, Google caches them so that any unchanged content will load quickly.

I found that Google Cache always has at least one older version.

The article was first created at 12:47 pm. Then updated at 12:55 pm. Then Google cached it at 1:07 pm.

That means that they removed the quotes within 20 minutes and the WS members that saw that version of the article were in the right place at the right time.

Here is the cached version (text only) [you can see that it is different from the current live version]

Daily News request for 911 audio and callout logs denied

On Thursday, the newspaper made a request to the Onslow County Emergency Operations Center for audio files of the 911 call made by Mariah Woods’ family on Nov. 27, the day the child was reported missing.

The Daily News has requested and been denied two public records requests pertaining to the ongoing investigation into the missing 3-year-old girl.
On Thursday, the newspaper made a request to the Onslow County Emergency Operations Center for audio files of the 911 call made by Mariah Woods’ family on Nov. 27, the day the child was reported missing. That request was denied through Onslow County spokesman Chad Ray, citing orders from the authorities conducting the ongoing investigation and the Fourth Prosecutorial District Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, a request was made to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office for deputy call logs made to the Woods’ residence for the past four months, since Kristy Woods and her boyfriend, Earl Kimery, moved into the home on Aug. 1. That request was denied by OCSO Maj. Chris Thomas without providing a reason.

HiYa, tarheellvr! It's great to see you here. Yes, this is another tuffie -- hoping for a good outcome for all involved, but reality says it's probably not gonna happen. Stick around -- your good sense is always helpful! :)

I'm pretty sure it has not been reported whether they did or didn't. I have also followed this case since the beginning and I have a fairly good memory for details. I think you are right, they started with the house, the car, then started searching the woods and creeks, etc. There has been no reporting regarding RSO's.

They, LE, probably hasn't said anything about RSO because one, they logically would be the first one's to go ask and most people would assume they would have checked in with RSO; second, I would imagine (and this is just speculation) they wouldn't want to bring any attention to RSO in the area because they know how people have a knee-jerk reaction for RSO and some psycho would decide the guy down the street that got popped for peeing in public is a kiddy diddler and might do something stupid and finally, statistically (according to the FBI) it's extremely unlikely a RSO would have been responsable. According to the report I read, out of the 18 cases (out of about 200,000 studied) that involved abductions of children from within the residence, only 3 of them were committed by a RSO.

My main concern and thought is what if mom/bf whoever did this didn't dump the body anywhere near the area she was last seen? This baby could be anywhere especially with rumors of a family trip and borrowed suitcase. If she is in another state or too far they may not find her and if she is in a suitcase dumped somewhere that could also further prevent her being found as the suitcase to the point may be able to cover the smell of decomposing (sorry for being graphic). I just pray she is found and whoever is responsible gets what they deserve.

(Neighbor, is that you? That's me out there all hours of the night noting suspicious activity lol )

Lol! You know, I am thankful for others looking out. That’s how it should be. Now if only we could keep the watchdog’ing to safety and put an end to the neighbors that keep track of how long my kids are in their pj’s.

I was out this afternoon too. I just scrolled a bit and saw that the family had a ford windstar van and the bf smashed with a baseball bat. I just looked up the time that Ford made the Windstar and it was 1994–2003, so I'm assuming no updated gps equipment was on it.

I’m not surprised by the denial of records. I stand by what I said earlier: this is being handled by the feds and we won’t see or hear anything until they have an air tight case. The sheriff himself alluded to this in yesterday’s press conference. IMO they have a good idea of what happened to Mariah, but need solid evidence.

(O/T, things are about to drastically change in California as related to RSOs; we are talking about thousands of offenders...I learned about this on Tricia's radio show...some people will no longer have to register (re: to tier levels, etc)...the big problem with this, among many others, is that many of these guys have been pled down to lesser crimes from more violent ones. Note to self to follow up on this subject/thread, if one has been created yet... I am very, very concerned about this.)

This is so bringing back memories of Lisa Irwin, last time another adult outside the family saw the child, combined with where family members were in the days leading up to the child going "missing". So frustrating. Hopefully in 6 years we aren't still asking where Mariah is located. :(

So I escaped from an abusive marriage and have studied DV in my master's program. It's not a matter of holding back. It's a myth that DV comes from uncontrolled anger. It's power and control. So someone who wants power and control over others would very much enjoy abusing those smaller and weaker. Even to the point of no return (death or mortal wound). And the power it gives him over the mother of those children would be enjoyable also. The car windows was a warning. It's very calculated and controlled. A man like this has no emotional capacity or understanding, and no conscience/empathy/remorse. It's a chess game and people's lives are of no consequence compared to his need for power. Whether it's a domestic abuser or serial killer, it's a spectrum of the same dynamics. In these people, violence is not related to out of control anger. It's a way to gain power. The anger is a show - theatrics. They enjoy it but anger is not the root.

I can understand this. There is also mental control. There are no bruises, or broken bones, but it ain't no fun either.
