Well I'm dopey as hell, didn't even see that. haha Thanks.

In the menu bar at the top one says QUICK LINKS and below that is a SUBSCRIBED THREADS so you can come right back to this case each time. I realize it's also got a banner at the top but that is not so with every case.
ETA It took me a good 3 yrs to figure that out :)

Certainly LE will speak with these two older boys and hopefully they will get some insight into living conditions. Certainly the area they are searching, which I think someone mentioned was approximately 3 miles from the home, is rather far for this child to have wandered off to. Just how limited was her ability to walk and, has it still not been confirmed whether Mariah's braces were missing or not? What about this so called sighting of her with a woman in Walmart?

That ended up being a woman and her daughter....who has one leg shorter than the other. Not a person of interest/girl was not Mariah.

Moving back on topic after this.... my sister and I talk about it sometimes. Not often. I hate talking about it. I'd love to forget it all, but I think those experiences make us deeper, richer, more humble and empathetic people.:blowkiss:
I am by no means an expert in such things, but it occurs to me (not related specifically to anyone that has posted about their experiences, perhaps I shouldn't be tacking this onto your post but otherwise it might look to be unconnected with the subject matter) that sometimes people who have witnessed or suffered abuse might not have recognised how legitimately angry they are about it still. I have seen some truly powerful healing within people by beating up cushions and acknowledging deep unexpressed anger at the fear and other stuff they have had to carry. The beauty of it is that the person whom the anger is being vented at doesn't even have to know.

I hope this doesn't cause offence to anyone.

This has nothing to do with this case but I had the most bizarre experience with LE yesterday. I found a cell phone on the parking lot of my office as I was leaving for lunch. When I returned I turned it in to the information desk thinking someone had dropped it and would be back looking for it. It wasn’t an hour later that 2 detectives showed up in my office. The first thing they said was that I wasn’t in trouble. Well, that never crossed my mind as I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong! They wanted me to show them exactly where I found the phone because it belonged to someone who has been missing for 3 days!!! I immediately said “Oh, I shouldn’t have touched it then. “. They were very nice, assured me I had done the right thing as some people might have just kept it. I pointed out the spot, they took pictures and asked me to write a report about exactly what happened and when. The part that has me really freaked out is how did they even know someone found the phone? It was dead as a door nail-I know because I tried to turn it on to see if I could figure out the owner. So, this just goes to show that LE has resources that we don’t know about and are always working even if it doesn’t look like they are. Sorry this is so long!

Wow! I hope your actions lead to finding the missing person! And it's a reminder to "do the right thing."

Thanks Miss Malowe, I was just hoping by some crazy chance that a very dumb but well meaning person removed her from a toxic home environment. Just praying she is somewhere safe and warm.

Just thinking perhaps if Mariah did get up in the night and was walking, it wouldn’t take too much at all to overbalance her or cause a significant fall with even a small amount of force/shove back toward her room.

I cannot wrap my mind around how a mother can just sit back and let her boyfriend discipline HER children. .I mean seriously, how?!?!
Let alone move him into their obvious already fragile little world. I try sitting on my hands here most of the time..but sometimes it doesn't work. In the 12ish years I have been on WS there have been enough cases of abuse and infanticide that the studies on the subject have more than a ring of truth.

I can only imagine an addiction problem. Addicted people lose their values. We have no idea if this is the case here.

I wonder if the person at the desk was able to charge it and that’s how LE found it[emoji848]

In my experience there seems to be three types of mom's that will let a BF discipline her kids: the neglectful mom, the scared mom and the "I wanna be the good guy" mom.

The neglectful mom is just that, she doesn't care. She's more concerned with herself and keeping the BF happy. The BF may be a brutal abuser or he may be the victim of abuse at the hands of the GF and he wants to do the right thing by the kid by addressing discipline problems and trying to fill in the gaps that neglectful mom is keeping open.

The scared mom is the victim of abuse herself and the BF keeps an iron grip on the household, which includes domestic violence against mom and kids.

The "I wanna be the good guy" mom is an attentive mother with an attentive partner but she either doesn't want to be the disciplinarian or doesn't feel confident enough in herself to address issues of discipline OR she comes from a more tradtional household where mom is the attentive, emotional parents and the dad/BF is the strict one who deals with discipline.

I don't know if the police can just come and speak to the little boys. IMO, there is a process. Social workers or psychologists "work" with the children and slowly a story may emerge. Not positive but I believe parental permission comes in to play also. BTW, latest article I read in the daily mail said bio mom and bio dad are not divorced.

in this interview with some lady criminologist, she says there is a chance little Mariah is with a family member and perfectly fine, ahhh.. why would that be? I highly doubt that

It wouldn't be the first time a vindictive mother in a custody dispute handed their child over to a family member or someone in one of those underground child trafficking rings that hide children from fathers under the guise that the father is the abusive one when in reality mom is just being vindictive and refuses to share the child.

I keep that box checked and it STILL signs me out automatically. Only on the work computer

Your work IT dept probably overrides that.

Can a reg WS user give me a hand. Is there some setting I can use to stay signed-in the WS forum? Every time I switch over to do something else on my computer and then come back to WS I'm signed out automatically by the forum and have to sign-in again.
I use the tapatalk app on my phone, so I never have that issue. I highly recommend it.

But in this case, why in the middle of the night for goodness sake? Totally unlikely in this case.

Wowza! I'm kind of interested in the outcome of this and the missing person now. If anything comes of this, please point me to a thread.

Walmart sighting was definitely not Mariah.

That could be something your place of work has done to override normal settings as a way of discouraging employees from spending time on non work sites.
