'Gov. Roy Cooper announced Thursday (today) that the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) will pay up to $25,000 for new information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Martha Maxwell, 51.
On Jan. 20, 1994, Maxwell was found stabbed to death in her home on 806 Blue Street in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. Gov. James B. Hunt, Jr. originally offered a reward in the case on Sept. 12, 1994. The SBI Cold Case Unit reopened the investigation on Jan. 25, 2021.'
