To anyone involved with this case, excellent work!

Rest peacefully with your mom, little fella. You've been away for way too long.

Kudos to all involved in giving these two back their names and their families.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Is that a name I see! I was just thinking of him today when I was on Orange County NC Jane Doe's thread. Both were the first UID's I was aware of being from NC. I've been actively checking his case since 2006 and he finally has his name back!!!!!!

Here's her photo with the UID's reconstruction. Click to enlarge.

Oh my gosh! I almost posted her as a possibility for his mother last month but decided not too because I thought they would automatically be matched if both were on NamUs.

Theoretically they do, but we don't know whether she had DNA available. It sounds like she might not have been tested until Bobby's LE inquired about her.

Here are Bobby and Myoung's Doe Network profiles.

233UFSC

437UMNC

Myoung was found on May 13th 1998 hours after she died.
Bobby's estimated DOD is listed as 'as early as April 1998'.

I hope the father's trial is publicized. I really want to know what was the motive. The reports are saying that they aren't releasing his name yet. He is already in prison.

Her husband (Myoung's) currently is serving a lengthy federal prison sentence for armed robbery and is not eligible for parole until 2037, Blackwood said.

Orange-Chatham District Attorney Jim Woodall said the husband won’t be identified until a decision about where he should be prosecuted is made. The victims were not killed in Orange County or Spartanburg, he said. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.newsobserver.com/news/local/article225508170.html

A statement from Bobby's family.

"Our hearts are broken into a million pieces. We had no idea that Bobby and Myong Hwa were no longer with us and had not been for a very long time. It came as a total shock to us when we spoke to Major Horne. Our world fell apart. We don't think we can ever forgive our brother for what he did. Bobby was the sweetest, kindest, and funniest little boy. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. And to think of that being snuffed out brings a chill to our hearts. Our brother told us Bobby's Mother, Myong took him back to Korea to raise him and we believed him. Now we need to bring him and his Mother home where they belong and bury them next to his Grandmother who adored him. We would like to thank the Orange County Sheriff's Department and most especially Major Tim Horne for his 20 plus years of work and never giving up hope and finding Bobby's Family. The Family would like this time for privacy and to grieve."

According to this article:

"The suspect is the boy's father. He's in prison and has been since the 1990s on an unrelated federal charge.
According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, he confessed to the murder of both victims within several months of each other in 1998."

So according to this article, sometime after May 1998 to December 1999 he got sent to prison. Suggesting he wasn't free for long after the murders.

Another article says he's in prison on armed robbery charges and not eligible for parole until 2037.

The last part of the sentence above: "he confessed to the murder of both victims within several months of each other in 1998."
Does it mean he confessed to each murder several months apart or that he killed them several months apart?

Important case from my POV. When his body was found I'd been in my house for about 3 years and the recovery site is about 10 miles away.

So relieved at this break in the case and for the closure for the family and LE.

I'm so glad that Bobby and Myong had people who loved them and missed them, and I'm over the moon that they've finally been identified and will be going home.

Wow another 2 identifications for 2019! This is amazing! 2019 is really going to be the year where some of our UIDs will have their names back and be once again reunited with their families.

Rest in Peace Bobby Whitt and Myong Hwa :(

I think with the new DNA technologies and improved testing techniques, as well as the use of ancestral research, it's going to be an amazing year.

Why- that’s my question. Bobby and his father had a good relationship, and he killed his baby (I use that term for children). It’s very heartbreaking.
