GUILTY NC - Melissa Huggins-Jones, 30, murdered in her Raleigh home, 14 May 2013

So the anonymous witness us an undercover CCBI agent. I didn't know there were undercover CCBI agents.

Is she the one who matches some forensic evidence to Travion?

The attorneys spoke about potential closing arguments tomorrow (though I doubt they'll get there). Somebody needs to connect some dots soon to place Travion inside.

I was also thinking about how convenient it was that Sarah Redden didn't see either man enter or exit any apartment. She just happened to miss those parts of the night's activities.

bbm

Just thinking that as well. I was hoping the CCBI DNA expert could do it, but no-o-o-o. I was hoping that at least some CCBI agent could show two shoe prints of each of the shoes that Anthony & Smith wore -- I mean, grasping at straws....

So I'm guessing that this mystery CCBI witness is the one who will put him there. And if so, it will have to be, IMO, strong and real stuff. Maybe tweets will tell us how it goes...

We're getting close to the end and we got next to nuttin, honey...

collette, I don't think Travion said he had blood on his own hands. Sarah Redden testified that both of them were washing their hands with h2o from water bottles, but I don't think Travion admitted having blood on his hands. Did I miss it?

OT, but I don't see how Sarah Redden's first degree murder charge can hold up. Unless they have something showing that she, too, was inside, I can't imagine how they would make the case. How was she to know they would murder someone? Nothing I've heard so far leads me to think they broke into a home with the intention to kill.

Also, it sure would be interesting if they (either prosecution or defense) called Ronald Anthony to testify.

You are correct, they both washed hands with bottled water. I think it was dark so Sarah didn't see the blood. I found Sarah to be very believable. On her testimony (day3 part2) She saw blood on Tray's shirt, both men said they were glad the little girl did not wake up and she saw Tray go in the apt through the sliding door and also saw him wipe the balcony railing down. Sounds like he was in the murdered woman's apt to me. He lied to the detective.

oh that's right, she did see him wiping the railing! Was it the victim's railing or the leasing office?

Redden said Smith and Anthony left her. That's when prosecutors say they shimmied up onto a second-floor apartment's balcony and found an unlocked door. They then allegedly took turns stabbing Huggins-Jones.
Redden said in court Thursday she saw Smith on the balcony wiping it down with a shirt. She told him she'd seen a police car driving by and they needed to leave.

She said the railing on the second floor, the victim's railing. She heard a noise and looked up and saw him on the 2nd floor balcony. He was wiping the railing using his shirt. Marker 46:00 of this video.

Did the 2 killers know ahead of time the patio door was open? Did they see it was open?

I'm sure they saw that it was open. If they saw how to get up there by using vent dryer covers to climb on you know they had to have seen the open door. They also knew the apartment was occupied. She had nice furniture on the balcony. They were out to steal anything they could that night. They started with cars, trying all the doors and it just progressed.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

oh sorry, Ms. Shoeprint Footwear lady, I nodded off there for a second. Did you conclude anything yet?

For how many hours can one talk about shoes?

  • #479
I was in the meeting from hell for the last almost 2 hours, but looks like I didn't miss anything here. At this point I'm behind in the case so I was just looking for summary / high points.

Several hours later, and I think the conclusion is Travion's shoe print matched somewhat with the print found of the dryer vent.

Perhaps there were other conclusions, but I zoned out.
