It would be nice if someone from the State Lab or CCBI could just run down a quick list of anything that matches the defendant. The whole 'dance of the 7 witnesses & slow parade of items in evidence" are beyond tedious. Just.Cut.To.The.Chase.

She needs to do something with her hair. Everyday it's just a mess. Braid it back or put it in a bun, geez.

[h=1]DNA evidence provides no clear link between suspect, North Hills crime scene[/h]Posted 11:22 a.m. today

Raleigh, N.C. — Testimony focused on physical evidence Thursday morning in the trial of Travion Smith, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a mother in her North Hills apartment in May 2013. But so far, there has been no direct link from the murder scene to Smith.

Thanks borndem!

Boy-o-boy, the ME testimony was certainly sobering. It really brings it all home. I kinda feel like crying. I hope that little pissant has nightmares tonight.

Same here -- I knew she was beaten very badly, but this reminds me of what Jason Young did to little Michelle -- but JY did it out of his hatred for her and for her mother. WTH was on his/their mind(s) while he/they were killing poor Melissa? That was a show of pure rage. There was certainly no specific hate t(he)y had for her. SMH. I can't get over it. All we can hope was what we always do: That the first blow made her unconscious. Dayam.

At least one of them was decent or ashamed enuff to cover her face with a pillow. Grrrrr.

Acting in concert. Acting in concert. Acting in concert.

Justice for Melissa and those who loved her.

These jerks were busy stealing stuff so why the hell did they need to go into the bedroom of a sleeping woman when her purse and possibly other valuables were out in the living room/kitchen area? They were armed and seemed more than ready to kill. This case is haunting. Such a random act of violence, so senseless, they didn't get that much from Ms. Higgins-Jones in the first place. It was middle of the night and dark--she would not have been able to identify them and she didn't know them.

And none of them are remorseful. I wouldn't be able to live with myself and that smug jerk just sits there like "no big deal."

Yes, one or both of them must have had a hunting knife -- one with a knife guard on it so that it can act as a blade and a blunt object at the same time if enuff force is used. They didn't find that kind of weapon in Melissa's kitchen or on her dining room table. Yes, they brought that along.

Yes, they knew there was a good chance, especially at that hour, that people would be asleep in that apartment. Were they feeling especially feisty due to their good haul that night, or were they looking to hurt somebody? No matter. What they found was a sleeping woman who had just moved there. She was happy about her good new job -- it's a big deal to open up the flagship branch in a big city; she was excited to be closer to her parents; and she was looking forward to having both her children there to share all of that with her.

Yes, what they did to her was First Degree Murder. And yes, they were indeed acting in concert -- shoes or no shoes.

Here is another bold face lie that Travion told the detective: He said they gained entry to the rental office though an unlocked door. They gained entry through a window. They took the screens off the window. There was blood on that window I hope it was his.

Wasn't there testimony that his dna was not found at the scene?
