This case was what caused me to purchase a weapon when my significant other started traveling for work. :/

I had a WS friend ask me today if I own a gun.

Noooo! Never held one, never shot one, don't want one near me. The very thought of a gun makes me nervous.

But I would consider a stun gun and pepper spray, weapons that wouldn't kill but would disable with the hope I could get away.

This kind of weapon I would consider since it's non-lethal. Maybe they'll get it into production some day.

Amazon sells some very reasonably priced tasers, by which I mean sub $20. The more you're willing to spend, the more features they have, such as mechanisms to prevent the taser from being turned AGAINST you.

I'm not typically one for the big weapon arguments--this murder just happened in my greater metro region literally the month that, for the first time in my life, I would be spending a week at a time alone for the foreseeable future.

Edit: sorry, I don't like it when someone makes another person's murder about them. I guess I know now why people often use the phrase "hits close to home". Sorry again.

With you 100%, Madeleine74. I've never seen a pistol except to see one in a LEO's holster. They scare me, too. I would, as you said, like to have some type of disabling device -- something to allow me to get away from a dangerous person, etc.

During the defense opening, I believe Ms. Dee said Travion's mother gave him to a neighbor. His mother, now on the stand, does not recall which years correspond to when her 4 sons were born. Ouch.
