GUILTY NC - Melissa Huggins-Jones, 30, murdered in her Raleigh home, 14 May 2013

Agree, Boodles -- No one is happy with a family situation that LS faced. His mother continued to do drugs in spite of her obvious responsibilities. Maybe TS's father was as mean to her as he was to TS. Call the cops and ask for help to relocate. Ignored and abused children certainly start with promise -- as all children do. Then, when they're barely days or months old, bad things start to happen to them. Some get lucky or are just more determined, and they succeed and rise above it all, and the abuse cycle stops with them, and some, for whatever reason or other, endure it and let that be the basis of so many horrible things they do. And innocent bystanders, neighbors, LE, taxpayers, the courts, victims and their families have to pay a price. Some pay so much more than others. And if society is lucky, the bad ones are locked up. And it never ends.

I don't get your point. He had a parole violation and was thus returned to prison. Doesn't that explain it? Then the moved him to jail. Is there more you're inferring?

No, I'm not implying anything -- the dates just caught my eye. It's just that after he was arrested for murder and would have normally been taken directly to the Wake Co. Jail, he was taken to prison to serve a "Post Release Sentence" and "Post Release Revocation." He was released from the initial incarceration on 01/12/13, and was certainly on probation. It's interesting that Wake County gave custody to the NCDPS to let him serve more time. Such a pity :D

  • Hi, Maisiebelle -- so good to hear from you! :happydance: .. :loveyou:

Bless his heart, but he is a rotter...

    :justice:

Hi Lovely! I know he has had a bad start in life, and that is really sad. I understand people going off the rails when they don't have a happy childhood. I agree with a previous poster who said he will probably get LWOP. He will never get the chance to walk the streets and do this to another person.

Good morning, gang! Interesting stuff going on before the jury comes in.

- prosecution said something about tweets from Kristina Love (came in on the end of that, so I'm not sure why they were referenced)
- prosecution wants to call jail employees who witnessed Travion's behavior in jail. There are records of altercations and disrespect. Defense brought witness after witness yesterday who testified that Travion did well in situations with firm boundaries. Prosecution said there no situation with more firm boundaries than jail, and there's proof/records to show he didn't do well there.

I'm paraphrasing much of that, because it happened so quickly, but that's the gist of it.-

State calls Grace McGovern. Works as an intern with the DA's office; has been working with the prosecution on this case since jury selection.

She was asked to look at multiple social media sites for witnesses, etc. Explaining Twitter/hashtags.
