The arrest warrant said the child's mother, 33-year-old Priyanka Tiwari, "unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder [her 10-year-old son]."

Moo...the police have been to home 8 times in 2023. The family in India has been calling frequently to check on child. But still he has died. No cause of death yet, but he had lost considerable weight this month. How would it be known he had lost weight?

Just wondering about performing CPR on a decomposed person. Maybe just automatic content on behalf of the news organization.
Police determined that significant time had passed since the child’s death due to the state of the body. Police said the boy's body was in a state of decomposition.

I wish the article said if during those 8 calls to the home officers set eyes on the child? Maybe that is how they know his weight loss happened in the last month of his life and was drastic?

I'd like to think that LEOs set eyes on him if they were called for wellness checks on him but we all know sometimes that doesn't happen as it should.

Tiwari made her first appearance today. She is charged with first-degree murder, and if convicted on that charge, she could face the death penalty or life without parole. She is also charged with child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, which carries up to 231 months.

She requested a capital defender to represent her.

Tiwari is being held without bond. Her next court date is set for Jan. 11
Morrisville mom charged with murder after son's decomposing body found inside house: Police

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Morrisville Police say when they arrived at Priyanka Tiwari’s home Wednesday evening, they found her son with bruises and in a state indicating he was dead for several hours.
[snip]
About 11 weeks earlier, police responded to the home, but it’s not clear whether officers saw the child, according to Morrisville Police Chief Pete Acosta.

Acosta said officers were previously called to the home eight times this year, although he said one of them was a 911 misdial.

Acosta said most were welfare check requests for Tiwari.

“It was determined that significant time had passed since the child’s death due to the state of the body,” according to a statement from the town of Morrisville. The boy’s body was in a state of decomposition, police said.

Warrants allege she had been starving the boy, but did not say for how long. Abuse and neglect were believed to be contributing factors in the boy’s death, police said.

During a brief court hearing on Thursday, a judge ordered the woman be held without bail and be represented by the capital defender's office, the News & Observer reported. That office said it had not yet assigned an attorney to her case.

-- Alert --
Here is a brief excerpt of how a body decomposes -- only for those who want to know...
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

BODY DECOMPOSITION TIMELINE

24-72 hours after death — the internal organs decompose.
3-5 days after death — the body starts to bloat and blood-containing foam leaks from the mouth and nose.
8-10 days after death — the body turns from green to red as the blood decomposes and the organs in the abdomen accumulate gas.
Several weeks after death — nails and teeth fall out.
1 month after death — the body starts to liquify.

Just wondering about performing CPR on a decomposed person
If they are visibly in decomposition, there would be zero reason to perform cpr

Was there any other children in the home?

Maybe I missed it somehow -- who made the request for a welfare check? Was it only to check on the mother? If so, what was the reason for the welfare check?
It doesn't sound like the child was in school. SMH -- seems to me the boy didn't have a chance...
Just dammit.

Fly high, young one. You're out of danger now.

I'm sorry, but performing CPR on a (obviously) decomposing body just makes absolutely no sense to me. Is that really what they are trained to do? I can see if the person looks obviously deceased, but MAYBE there is a chance of bringing them back, but on a decomposing body? I just find this puzzling.

Tiwari's husband contacted police in March and asked them to watch over the home while he went to retrieve some personal items, according to WNCN.

Acosta added Tiwari's husband later had a domestic violence protective order placed against her.

At that time, the boy 'appeared to be of a very healthy weight.'

In the Dailymail article above (source cited below) it says,

"A 911 call led police to her Priyanka Tiwari, 33, home in Morrisville around 5.35pm Wednesday."

Just wondering who called in the alert? Glad it was reported, but who was around to make the call?

Acosta said most were welfare check requests for Tiwari.

“Usually it was someone from India,” Acosta said. “I’m assuming it was a family member who had not been able to reach her in several days.”

Much more at link, couldn't snip more due to copyright

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WRAL) - A Morrisville man is now facing charges after his son allegedly starved in the care of his own mother and died, according to an arrest warrant.
[snip]
The boy's father, Shashikant Tiwari, 40, was charged months later on Feb. 2 with negligent child abuse causing serious bodily injury after he "failed to care for his own child and left the child in the care of his wife ... who he knew was in a mental health decline ... which led to the willful act of starvation upon the victim," warrants read.

so she was charged with domestic violence and the father had a police escort to the home and they didn't think maybe the child was in danger at the time?

relatives in India called police several times ... and the husband called police as well ... and at least one neighbour

they all knew something was wrong and tried to get help
