NC NC - Nancy Bunly, 31, Lexington, 23 Sep 2024

Myself and another Search and Recovery specialist will be conducting an extensive water search of the ponds, lakes, and rivers in the area starting tomorrow. We conduct water searches with sonar, underwater ROVs, and when necessary, scuba dive on anomalies. I have reached out to the Lexington PD to inform them of our coming search efforts and for their assistance. I live 20 minutes south of Lexington and will continue to search for Nancy as long as practical.

It is my understanding that on the day she went missing, her boyfriends sister had a car accident with Nancy's car. This may be what caused an argument between Nancy and her boyfriend. Nancy left the home in the Honda Pilot, which I presume is owned by the boyfriend. She did not take her 5 month old baby with her. Her cell phone was found at a bridge across Abbots Creek near Finch Park which is a couple miles from her home. This is why local authorities have been looking in this area. A short distance further down the road from Finch Park is I-85.

There is much speculation on social media about the boyfriend and foul-play. For me, self-harm is my first impression. Having just given birth 5 months prior, there could be possible Postpartum Depression which has a high risk of suicidal behavior. Having her vehicle wrecked by her boyfriends sister could have put her over the edge. Takes off in his car leaving the baby behind. Throws cell phone out the window while crossing the bridge over Abbotts Creek where it lands on the shoreline to be discovered later by police. Proceeds to a body of water...

This is the assumption we are going with for the time being.

I spent today in the Lexington area, specifically around Finch Park and Abbotts Creek. The creek is very shallow. The pond at Finch Park is deep enough to obscure a vehicle and will be sonar searched. There are a number of other water locations in the area that will also be searched. I'll post search updates here.

Do you mind if I ask the name of your organization?

If the water searches aren’t successful are there indications that would lead to specific land search areas?

Over the past 2 days we have sonar searched and cleared the waters at 12 boat ramps, 13 bridges, and along several miles of shoreline where a vehicle may be able to access water. We have also sonar searched the pond at Finch Park in Lexington. We are continuing to identify more areas to sonar search as well as drone and land search but our first priority is water. Local authorities have been informed of the results of our search efforts and we continue to advise them of our search plans.

Please DM me to learn more about our organization.

While we are performing water searches we are identifying areas for Drone and ground searches.

With recent arrests made in the case, her family sees a glimmer of hope but won't rest until they know where she is.

"She's not that person… to just leave without [telling] the family. She's not that person. She would tell us," Bunly's Mother, Savoeuth Kong said.

Kong describes her daughter as a homebody and a family woman. She said most of Bunly's days were spent going to work, going home, and taking care of her baby girl, Ariel, who just turned 8-months-old.

"Her baby is with me. Her baby is good right now," Kong said.

Police said the three who were arrested are related to the man Bunly was dating, Ricky Lam. Police said Lam is a person of interest but have not named him as a suspect in Bunly's disappearance.

JMO, but with the news of the arrest of three people related to Nancy’s boyfriend and the announcement he is a POI. Self harm should no longer be an option.

IMO, it sounds like the boyfriend likely killed Nancy and the others helped cover it up.

My thoughts are with her family, while they wait for the truth to be revealed. Another child has been robbed of their Mom, it just doesn’t end.

I've been a bit silent on my search efforts in this case because I am working with Lexington PD to search areas of interest. Will post more when I am able to.

Is this yet another case of dispute with spouse/parner/leaving house abruptly after dispute? Was the spouse/parner the last person to see Nancy? Is the baby with her ?
Maybe I was not too off, with my initial questions….Dispute, disappearance ?
I am happy the baby is safe with the maternal grandmother.

Interesting that the car is still missing. I wonder if any of the obstruction of justice charges are in relation to somehow disposing of or hiding the vehicle.

Police confirmed that that all three individuals arrested are closely related to Bunly's boyfriend.

“The three that were arrested was a brother, a sister, and a nephew to Nancy’s boyfriend; and were not only not cooperative but presented some obstructions to our investigation," explained Robby Rummage, Chief of Lexington Police Department.

Chief Rummage confirms that the charges do not relate to the missing Honda Pilot.

Any update on the search ?
Search efforts are continuing but are somewhat hampered by the continuous frigid weather we are experiencing. This morning it was 15°F. I was out searching numerous areas during the week of Christmas. More searches are planned as soon as the weather warms up a tad. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks. We have a winter storm hitting this area on Friday/Saturday. Uncertain if this will be a snow or freezing rain event. ( I am so over winter...)

Due to the ongoing investigation by LPD into the circumstances surrounding Nancy's disappearance, I am unable to post specifics of the search at this time. LPD and Nancy's family are being frequently updated.
