GUILTY NC - Reginald Daye, 46, fatally stabbed, Durham, 3 April 2011

Good chance there were some illicit substances consumed in addition to alcohol
He was at .296 for a blood alcohol level. I hope they did some blood tests on her.

She has lots of experience at this sort of thing, so I have a tendency to think she is putting on quite an act, but maybe.

if she was going to fake, it would be injuries, not intoxication.

After all that, no questioning CM? Maybe after lunch break?

How does one elicit sympathy by being drunk after fatally stabbing someone?
Oh, I just mean from the male police officers. She liked to get friendly with them if they gave her half a chance--we have heard in previous testimony that she had phone numbers for a few. (They thought Reginald Daye was going to recover at that point.)

It often works to an arrested woman's advantage to act all hung over and pathetic in the police station--but be oh so cooperative with the officers. Rather like--poor little, helpless me; I couldn't hurt a flea.

An officer testified that he felt they were both feeling pretty good earlier in the evening--but not that much earlier.

Now, I suppose that is open for interpretation, but I take it to mean they still had balance but were pretty much boisterous.

IIRC, there wasn't that many beer bottles around the house--3 or 4 maybe. But lots of knives--broken and otherwise.

I agree with you though--there could have been drugs involved.

I have no sympathy for her. I think she will do this again and again.

Oh, I get what you mean. She did flirt a bit with the EMT guy.

Good question.

Her and the one who cut her own stomach. The straight one and the gay one. And I'd like to see teeth put back into PERJURY. There's a couple of people in Florida I'd like to see responsible for their lies.

I am solid with you on that, CUCKOOHEAD! IMO, perjury is a very serious offense. The witness is under oath, for pete's sake, and he/she insults him/herself, the Court (and that's scary in my view), the jury, jurisprudence, and it is against the law. And it is so provable in so many cases. And most of the people who do it, plan to do it before they even take the oath. And it may not matter to some, but it certainly does to many others, the oath is taken, "so help me, God." Bad, bad business.

Since I only arrived today, guess I need to ask how the heck - many pix might the jury be looking at? Might have to ask ancient husband to tie me to the chair.

Austin Sigg, the confessed kidnapper, torturer and murderer of 9 y/o Jessica Ridgeway in Colorado, just got sentenced to life with parole at 40 years for murder in the 1st, plus 86 more years on various felonies, most of which the judge assigned consecutively!

I've been fuming about the joke with perjury since the Anthony's trial. I hated that the family mislead good people, like Equifax, L.E. and the world wringing their hands hoping little Caylee would be found and okay. I was mad when they perjuryed their testimony and I was insane when I understood that they had set up dummy charity/ies to capitilize on their grandchild's death.

Borndem the charge of perjury, IMO, is almost all bark and no bite. I think the only one hauled in on those charges is Andrea Sneiderman (sp?). Until we force some bite back into it as a crime you're right Borndem some people will lie on the stand and drive me nuts. :banghead:

:loveyou: Thank you. That guy was seriously scary.

Life with parole??? WTF

I like this judge. No monkey business. The defense says they have evidence. I wanna see this.

Recess for day. Judge says jury will get case Friday.

Yep -- The US Supreme Court recently ruled that a person under 18 years cannot get automatic LWOP - the toughest sentence that he/she could receive is Life with possibility of parole after serving 40 years.

You may remember Laurence Lovette, one of the killer/kidnappers of Eve Carson. Lovette was 17 when he committed the crime against Carson. He was given LWOP. Not long after, the Court ruled that people who were younger than 18 y/o could not automatically be given LWOP. Lovette was put in a "re-sentence" classification. The State of NC presented the situation to ~whatever body~ (I don't know how it was done) and Lovette was given LWOP under the new rules.

So there it is.

I'm sure some other Sleuthers have better info on it than I do...

I didn't know that borndem. You are a cornucopia of knowledge. :) I don't know about Laurence Lovette but I never have held much hope that prison is the best place to receive mental treatment to rehabilitate someone and that is why I am against someone committing a heinous crime having parole as an option in their future. Maybe if they were in a psych ward I'd feel differently.
