Police, family members search for Charlotte man missing 5 days

Sam Davis, 25, was last seen on Friday, June 29 on Poplar Grove Drive in the Davis Lake community in northeast Charlotte.

Davis has been suffering from depression, according to his mom. He doesn't have a car but may have taken his skateboard with him. He's described as 6'0" tall with a thin build.

Mejia says her son messaged his girlfriend on Facebook at 4:30 a.m. Friday morning. She says the message stated he had a falling out with his roommate and planned to leave.

About three hours later, Mejia says he sent another message on Facebook, this time to his brother-in-law.

Mejia says Davis asked his brother-in-law to come visit him in Charlotte and that he was feeling down and wanted someone to talk to.

Sam still has not been located.

The local police department has used cadaver dogs. No results from the dogs.

Carol is originally from the UK which made me feel extra emotional about this case. It sounds like the police and people of Charlotte are being very supportive, but of course it's a heartbreaking interview. I hope Sam is just taking some time out and will be in touch with his family very soon. Please share and publicize this especially if you are in the area.

Mejia says his roommate told her he saw Sam leaving the house at 11:00 a.m. that morning to go to Walmart.

Maybe it's just me but the roommate situation immediately stood out to me.

Charlotte mother searches for missing son

Mejia said it's been a nightmare since her son went missing. She just wants answers and for him to come home.

"I love him more than anything and I don't care where he is, or what he's done, or what's lead to this. I will do whatever it takes to get him to come home and be safe. Even if he doesn't want to come home for some reason, I'll do whatever it takes to help him," she says.

Twenty-two weeks ago Sam Davis vanished from Charlotte’s Davis Lake subdivision. He was 25-years-old at the time. Those who love Sam, including his mother, Carol Mejia, have never stopped believing Sam is out there, somewhere.

Mejia has used social media, specifically Facebook and Twitter, to keep Sam’s picture and case in people’s newsfeeds. She just wants answers. She just wants her son home.

Since he went missing his mother has posted videos and photos weekly. Close to four thousand people follow the “Find Sam Davis” Facebook page.

But it was an impromptu Facebook Live feed this week that has gone viral and is helping bring new light to the case of her missing son.

He has a son? How sad for him to still be missing.

I looked for him in the area when their was a possible sighting in September or October- my mom lived very close to the area (she is in a nursing home now) and I grew up there. Sam's mom was so gracious and kind, even after hearing that this is a known area for drugs, drug dealers and homeless. All she wants is to know her son is OK. I work in Charlotte (close to the Uptown area) and I continue to look for him.
Prayers she will be reunited with him one day.
