Because when her dad starts wondering where she is, why can't he see her, etc. this explains Shaniya being gone but absolves the mother of any responsiblity. Does that make sense? She knows it will eventually be discovered that Shaniya is gone because you can't just make a child disappear without someone picking up on it . This was her way to remain 'innocent' in all of it. If an intruder kidnapped her or Shaniya walked out on her own and got taken, AD had nothing to do with it.

It does make sense.Everything makes sense yet nothing makes sense anymore.I guess I just haven't wrapped my mind around it all yet.I totally hate this...and I hate all those involved with her death.

IN MY OPINION, the second inaudible she started to say blanket.

If you wake up, and your 5 year old child is gone, do you check to see if they took their shoes, pants, or anything with them??? What's that, to see if your 5 year old decided to move out??!!

I have thought about this, and I believe, only speculating, that she knew Shaniya was supposed to be murdered when she was taken. I believe that is why she was taken. I think she had been prostituting her daughter all along those 3 weeks or whatever, and I think that MAM was supposed to kill her to get rid of her, I think that the stop at that hotel was a part f his (payment).

Was it the fact that MAM stole her without the mothers consent?Is that why she was reported missing?

Selling her and reporting her missing within hours just doesn't add up.Sorry it just doesn't.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why not, LF? IF the plan was to sell her to someone as yet unknown to us, and MAM WAS the delivery boy, then they knew they HAD to report her missing. They did it pretty quickly, true, but then again

[1] they had no idea that there would be a video pop up later to identify anyone

[2] they probably expected the sale to take place and Shaniya be gone and untraceable, not dead due to something having went wrong w/ the transaction at the motel

Ohhh and

[3] the other people in the trailer, if they really had NO idea of the "plan"...would obviously not understand Shaniya's being missing, and so the call would HAVE to be made EARLY ON (soon as she was discovered "missing") so as not to seem suspicious to THEM!!

Maybe once the drugs started to wear off , she realised the magnitude of what she had done.

Her 911 call fits the profile of being guilty. She was blaming the victim, Shaniya by continually repeating that she can unlock the door herself .

Hope her withdrawals behind bars are long and painful.

We really don't know when or what time Shaniya was taken, we only know what AD told 911. Perhaps she was gone a lot longer. AD needed to call so she could report her child missing (as an innocent mother), never thinking someone would see them on video in a motel.

I'm wondering if "selling" isn't "selling" in the sense of a change of...ownership...(blech) and instead in terms of prostitution. I truly don't believe AD was selling Shaniya. I think she was selling her body. It's despicable and disturbing, but I think the human trafficking charge has people picturing this crime as little Shaniya getting sold into a sex ring.

My theory is that MAM is a straight-up sick pedophile. Drug-addled and looking for money, Antoinette decides that since she can't sell herself pregnant, then Shaniya is an asset. It's always been bizarre to me that AD would have moved her to the couch, if it indeed happened. I think it's like a previous poster said--Shaniya was there for the pick up and bonus! He wouldn't even have to wake AD up. Probably better not to think about it and not mess up her sleep with guilt.

I don't believe the intent was to molest Shaniya there. There were potential witnesses in that trailer. Better to get her out of the house, and the disgusting perv decides to take her to a hotel like Johns often do. Nevermind that she's five.

Shaniya was probably traumatized, screaming, verbal, whatever, and with his urges fulfilled he saw her as a risk. She was drawing attention and she would just tell someone later. Whether AD just never thought about the scenario or didn't care, I don't know. Maybe she told him to bring her back when he was through. Maybe this plan was hatched when she was out of her mind with drugs. But her appearance in court just didn't give me the vibe of someone who just never thought this could happen.

I bet she pimped her out for drugs, and that was quite an expensive high. Dead little girl and prison. I don't think she was gone enough to not know this was a potentiality, though. I think she had the girl for three weeks, didn't form a bond, saw her as expendable (another child and one on the way) and maybe held some resentment toward dad.

Either way, I don't think this was ever supposed to be a sale. I don't think MAM was an intermediary. I think he was the john, AD was the pimp, and Shaniya was the commodity.
