Does anyone have links to these statements? I'd really like to read them. Thanks.

If you mean LE's comments re footage, it was in the first or second presser IIRC. Too late, too tired to dig for it but it was definitely LE on a video (vs article) HTH. I'm getting ready to lay it down..... hopefully we'll hear news tomorrow re either autopsy or further arrests, it's such a confusing mess I hope this doesn't take long to sort out time/cause/place of death and the jurisdictions because meanwhile there could be some other sicko roaming around...

Will look for the East Coast Early Riser posts in the am, as usual I'll awaken (at 6:30 am PST) already two or three threads behind... sigh... tired bird, goodnite.

Hmmm.

I've watched that segment only once and I don't have much to say other than I think the dad should've been there from the beginning... not coming out like that during the interview.

I've seen people here discussing "the second kiss" Brad is giving Byron as if he's trying to say something, but that's not my opinion.

It feels strange and odd to me, but they may be part of his personality.

Just want to add that I've had no doubt that the reason for selling Shaniya was for AD to pay down her drug debt to MAM. No question in my mind.

I know; it's like a puzzle. What were your thoughts on Brad's interaction with Byron. I thought he was going to sit on his lap for awhile there. It was creepy when Nancy asked him about COD and you could see Brad walking through the shadows toward him.

I did find it a little weird, but I must say that when hearing about these types of cases that involve children, I hug my children a little tighter. I could never phathom losing a child or how I would react, but if outsiders hold their children a little closer, I could understand a grieving father losing one child and Overwhemlingy constantly embracing surviving children.

I did question why he came out to be there but wouldn't say anything.

I think that hug was a " stop talking..everything we are saying is being dissected!

His fingers were pressing into the poor kids shoulders. I watched that part three times as there was a heck of a lot of body dynamics going on. I have to admit after the 2nd kiss, I was expecting something totally strange to happen. Not perverse, just unexpected. I also observed him to be a very stubbon man. He says he's not going to talk...Nancy thanks both of them and says goodnight and he doesn't open his mouth. He's an odd one.

Does anyone know of any new press conferences etc?

  • #147
If MAM has enough money to bail out he will ,while the state is figuring out which division is going to handle this....If he is not charged with murder by tomorrow I will be shocked.

  • #148
I just checked. As of end of day, still haven't figured out where murder took place to determine jurisdiction. Don't think they will have presser until that happens.

  • #149
Ok heard some new reports on cnn that lead me to think and JMO it may be possible that AD owed MAM money and he came sometime that evening to collect and AD couldn't pay and subsequently offered her daughter. MAM takes her from the home. Other members in the house either come home or wake up and notice she is missing, AD calls 911 and reports her missing as if she didn't know what was going on. (Could explain the video of people looking for her/fake sounding 911 call) In the mean time MAM takes her to the hotel, finds out that AD has called police, leaves the hotel room and murderers her.
I guess I want to hold on to some hope that this was an isolated incident and that this poor girl was not continuosly brutalized the entire time she was living with this monster. Not that it would make the situation any easier, just saying.
FWIW, I find that to be a very plausible theory.

I've been blessed not to have faced such tragedy with my children and these cases are a reminder to me. They are all horrible but this one....seeing the hotel photos makes it all so real. You are there with her and want to save her. People give Nancy Grace a hard time, but she gives national attention to these cases and people are done with these cimes. It's too much!!

I'm out of here, folks. I spent the entire day here getting caught up and now I have so much to ponder I doubt that I'll catch a wink of sleep. But I'm gonna try 'cause it's back to work for me tomorrow, uh...today.

Goodnight, all.

P.S. Tricia, please give us a forum for Shaniyah.

This seems to be a common theory. I found AA (his girlfriend) reaction to all of this so odd. It was very...well he's a good daddy but if they think he did..well I don't know. AA - you do realize LE is suggesting your child's father is a kidnapper, probably a murderer, and a child rapist thrown in.

The arms around the son looked more like a chokehold to me. I don't know why, just something creepy here. Let's hope it's just much ado about nothing.

Sorry I forgot to post the video.

The dads fiance maybe?

http://www.wral.com/news/local/video/6409385/

The only female I see there is Shaniya's aunt Carrie and she is barely keeping it together. I feel so bad for her. Listening to her talk about Shaniya in other
interviews I can tell that she loved that little girl and had not a clue that the dad was giving her to the mother for good...according to the dad and to Shaniya's brother. Wanted the mother to learn to be a mom. That makes no sense to me at all and it ends up that learning to be a mom wasn't about to happen and it all was at the expense of Shaniya.

Little Shaniya was a truly beautiful little girl. Think of all of the couples that would have taken her in a second and raised her with love and kept her safe. She was said to have been a sweet little girl...still just a baby. If the father was tired of raising her and all of the other kids had left the house I'm sure Aunt Carrie would have taken her to raise. It seems that she had Shaniya a lot anyway.

I still don't understand a parent handing that baby over to someone who was a stranger to her...a person that he didn't bother to check out or ask anyone any questions about. Before we even let our grade school children spend the night with a friend we want to meet the parents of the friend and know all about them. We even check on them while they are spending the night just to make sure everything is going alright.

This whole thing could have been avoided if the father would have just checked out the mother and not took her at her word. Did he even bother to call that little girl after she was dropped off....during the 4 weeks she was at her mothers? I just wonder.

I also wonder why he didn't go for custody when Shaniya was a baby. He had her for close to 5 years so why no custody during that time?

I read that this man had 5 kids....I've only heard of three...who are the others and where are they? Cheyenne is also a beautiful young lady. She seems like a sweet girl too and the older son seems to be a nice responsible young man. It sounds like the kids were all raised by others. Cheyenne is the only one that I've seen that has the same last name as her father. A strange situation to be sure.

11/17/2009 article.
I don't know if this has been posted yet.

In it, it talks about the 1998 murder of Bradley L's first wife in a home invasion robbery.
It does say that Bradley and his former wife had three children together.
The three children mostly lived with their grandparents.
Interview with his former father in law. He had helped in the search for
Shaniya.

I also thought that clip was disturbing. The body language of the son totally changes. My fiance, though thought it could be a teenage boy's response to being hugged and kissed on television...kids.

IDK, there are so many twists and turns here and I think it will only get worse!

This story mentions that Bradley L has five
children with three women.
But it does seem that
only Shaniya had been living with him, up
until Oct., of course.

RIP Shaniya. You will be missed.

He was away and she was mostly with his sister. After the murder of his first wife, kids went to live with grandparents, they seem to not have much use for the dad in my opinion... I think he pays support, but he is absent from their lives.
